Things have gone from bad to worse..sort of update on the bottom.
Well I am on day 11 of my m/c and still bleeding but I thought it was tapering off. Then I wake up this morning with the begining signs of a UTI. I guess that is what happens when you wear a pad for 11 days straight.
Then the bleeding picks back up really bad. Right around the same time of this I get a call from my midwife. My RH antibody results test came back postive.. even though I had the rhogham shot within the 72 hour time frame of the start of the m/c. I have to go back to my OB because this is out of the scope of practice of the midwife. So tommorow I go back. They will check on the continued bleeding and worse.. explain the implications and explore the reasons for my postive rh antibody test.
This means when I get pg again. I will be high risk. Lots of ultrasounds, amnios, possible cord transfusions, possibilty of my blood attacking and deforming the baby. Possibility of kidney problems for the baby... I will not have my beautiful midwife birth but a medical birth with a high risk OB doctor.
I have never been more devasted. All I wanted was a baby.......

I am so sorry. I don't even know what to say. Maybe someone from the pregnany or parenting board has a similar experience and they can offer some advice?

Re: Things have gone from bad to worse
I may not be reading your post correctly, but alot of girls have to get a rhogam shot...I did after my MC last year so that during my next pregnancy, my blood would not affect teh baby. I was pregnant 2 months after my MC and had my DS in August. During the pregnancy, I had to get a shot of rhogam...which was not a big deal, and then another after his birth to protect any future babys...it wasnt that bad. HOwever, I am so sorry that you have to go through the pain of the MC. Ifyou want to talk, feel free to FM.

No I am sorry.. let me clarify. I had the rhogam shot but it didn't work and my body developed anitbodies which will travel into the placenta of future pregnanies and could attack the fetus. It could cause whole mulitude of problems and I will have to be monitored very closely.

I am so sorry to hear this. I also needed to get the Rhogam shot, and I remember when they were explaining the purpose, I got really nervous, let alone what you are going through.

First, don't get yourself hysterical...I would speak to a Dr before you figure out what the ramifications are. I have an immune disorder that does the same thing basically(causes inflammation at the site of implantation causing m/c)
When PG I have to take: Lovenox-2x per day subcutaneous injection into the stomach Prednisone-2X per day progesterone 2X per day Pre-natal, xtra folic acid, Vitamin E, D and calcium and a baby asprin When I get to 38 weeks I will have a planned C-section because of placental degradation in women with immune issues.
I would ask your Dr for the RPL panel specifically the antibody tests. In my experience when you have one antibody you may have others-which can be fixed with steroids or blood thinners..you just need some time to get used to this--it will all work out

Re: Things have gone from bad to worse
UPDATE: So I went to the Dr. today.. Here are the answers I got...
As far as the continued bleeding, They did another sono and it still shows no tissue but there is blood in my uterus. So at this point a D and C is still not indicated. They did more HCG levels to make sure it went down. If it is hovering or going up then a d and c is indicated. I will know that tommorow. I have to keep an eye on the bleeding and call her if it turns into hemmoraging. (sorry can't spell that)
As far as the antibody isssue she is baffled. It doesn't make sense that I developed antibodies that quickly AND after I had the Rhogam shot in the prescribed time period. She is running those tests again to see if it was just a false result. She wouldn't even discuss the implications it could have it was a true test. She wants to run it again and take it from there. I should also know that tommorow.
I also requested that she run some other tests to make sure that I am not becoming anemic. And the results from the unine culture are due back in a few days.
So it is just a waitng game at this point.
I want to thank you all so much. It is so nice to have a place to go to vent all your feelings. Sometimes I think my family gets tired of all of this.

Re: Things have gone from bad to worse..sort of update on the bottom.
Just to let you know (and hopefully this won't be an issue):
My DH's cousin had to go to a high risk doctor because of the Rh factor (even though it was her third child, she had developed antibodies -- I don't know the specfics). She did have to go to the doctor every week and at the end of her pregnancy several times a week.
The good news is her baby was born healthy!
