Things I didn't know......
Hi Ladies!
We are offically in our new home......I love it but moving sucks. I don't think we are ever going to unpack all these boxes. And a few thinks I didn't know about moving....
1. That you have to call to have the WATER turned on! I knew LIPA, Keyspan, Verizon, Cablevision....but water????
2. Estimated closing costs are BS! Ours were estimated at 16K and it cost us 21K!!!!! INSANE
3. Moving costs estimated at $1300.....we ended up paying $2100
4. New appliances delivered....make sure you measure well because our fridge was off by 1/8th of an inch. (we managed to shove it in there after ripping and sawing off molding!)
5. UMMM now that the water is on how do you turn if off to disconnect the waterline to the fridge?????
6. WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE BOXES WHEN THEY ARE EMPTY????? DO the garbage men take cardboard? On a specific day?
7. Why isn't the phone working??? Oh because lines were cut in the walls for some unexplained reason.......
8. No honey we do not put your Minnesota Vikings posters in the LIVING ROOM. In fact maybe the should go in the basement.........
9. Hint: You would have been able to find the modem if you labled the boxes that YOU packed.
10. Backyards are awesome....no more walking the dogs in the freezing cold!
11. Neighbors bring welcome notes with brownies!
12. We get to come home everyday to this wonderful house!

congrats! You will have the answers to your questions and down the road everyone will ask you the same.
Just remember to bring brownies to the new neighbors yourself.
Call the phone co and get a tech out there to hook up your jacks in your are not handy.
Break down your boxes and cut them up and stuff them in garbage bages or tied them up and leave them at the burb. Your town website will give you instructions on how it should be for pick up and when.
If you have a basement, the water valve is by the boiler. Either way, it should be by the boiler.
No Vikings posters in the living room. Maybe not even in the basement. Are we 15?
Take your time. I won't happen overnight. It will all work out! Congratulations..
Do you still have the sleeping in a hotel feeling?

I totally had that for the first month and a half!!!! then bam one day it went from feeling like sleeping in a hotel, to feeling like home
