Think I found a cleaning woman...whats next?

I spoke to many women over the phone and I think I found a nice, reliable person to hire to clean my apt on a regular basis. I 'm going to meet her in person tomorrow. How do I bring up payment? Do I ask her what she normally gets? We have a one bedroom apt, with a very small kitchen. She will be taking the subway so I expect to provide her with all the cleaning supplies. Is $50 too little/too much?

Please help. I know nothing about this

I think $50 is fine, in fact I would start at maybe $40. My moms cleaning person gets $80 a week and she has a 4 level house!

I paid $50 for a 1 bedroom- I think anything less is not fair

I paid $65 when I moved to LB- my apartment was bigger- and I was living with my DH- who is a slob- so I found it fair

I always supplied the cleaning supplies

Ok, so $50-65 sounds fair to me. I will see how she responds when she sees the size of my apt tomorrow.

My next question is what do I do when she is here cleaning? Its not like I can really go to another area because its just a one bedroom. My instincts will probably be to offer to "help" her clean, but obviously that goes against my reason for hiring her.

What can I do to make it less awkward?

I was never home when she came- or if she came and I was off from work- I left

I can't watch someone clean my apartment- I felt too weird and bad about it

For my studio inthe city, I paid $60 which included laundry! Now i pay $70 for my hosue, but I do the laundry. I also supply the cleaning supplies and leave extra $$$ if the house is a little dirty.
