Thinking about TTC again...????

My DH and I want to try for a 2nd baby. But after having a Micro Preemie...we want to be a little better prepared if possible. Does anyone know of any tests that can be done to figure out why I may have gone into labor so early?

The Dr. told me after I had my son that the older I get the greater chance of having another preemie....and as of right now the chance is 40-60%...which scares us....so any help would be really appreciated.

TIA

I've said this so many times....but here it goes again! LOL

My mom was 46 when I was born...I WAS a month pre-mature...BUT that is because I was 9.10 lbs!

I am healthy and so are my siblings! (which they were over 10 lbs each and my mom was 38 with her first child!)

Be positive!

I understand your point...but please understand mine...I had to watch my 1lb 14oz baby struggle to survive....we sat in the NICU for 72 days praying that James would come home with us...and when he did it was hooked up to all these machines...that we had to learn to read....and we needed to learn how to administer oxygen....I Thank GOD each and everyday that James is healthy...but I'm not sure that we can do all that again....especially since we still have a son to take care of.

I'm really looking for anything that I can do proactivly to help avoid going into labor before my 3rd trimester.

I really don't know anything about drugs to help you stop going in to premature labor but I wanted to share my friends' story.

They were older when they married - 37 - and didn't have any trouble conceiving and having a healthy baby boy. With their try at a second came the difficulty. She miscarried 3-4 times, some times a couple of months into her pregnancy. Their feelings were that they had been blessed once with their son. They were going to try for a second and take it as it comes. Should they not be blessed for a second time, that was okay because they had been given so much. If they do have a second child that had some difficulties, they is because they were meant to have that child and that child was placed with them for some unknown reason. They were blessed with a beautiful, healthy daughter when mom was 42.

My point is, this decision is something that no one but you two can decide. It's deeply personal. Whatever you decide will be what is best for your family.
