We just got back yesterday. We had a great time. Feel free to fm me with any specific questions.
I will say some of the best tips I have based on my experience are:
-Book an early breakfast at MK so you can get in the park before rope drop! Try crystal palace!
-bring a sun shade for stroller- it was sweltering!
-bring a rain cover for stroller and some ponchos- it rained a little almost every day and they really came in handy!
-best non-character dinner- Ohana!!!
-best non-princess character meal- tusker house for breakfast!

I think there is free dining program going on then. I went in September a few years ago and it was EMPTY! We walked on all the rides. Loved it that time of year.

September will be a great time to visit WDW! I am a teacher as well and always have to travel during peak times- Flights and resort rates will be low- It's not a busy season for WDW.

The most important advice I can give you is to stay on Disney property. There is a hotel for every budget and I strongly advise you to pick one. When you arrive in Orlando Disney will provide you with Magic Express transportation to the resort and all around the world during your vacation. The best part of ME is that they retrieve your bags at the airport and deliver them to your room. This is an awesome perk!

Check Mousesavers website for public codes for hotel discounts. They are not out yet but you can apply them to an existing reservation. I've saved as much as 40 percent on room costs.

There is a great planning website called the disboards and also Allears. The first is a site like this, the other a reference/factual guide.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have but will tell you I always booked room only and purchased our tickets through AAA- the packages were never close to a better buy. More convenient, but not a money saver. Compare the costs- they still may still be having the free dining promotion when you visit. I now have DVC and do not have to pay for rooms anymore! Happy planning!

I would just go on the Disney site, click on the "special offers" link, and price it out. There are some room only discounts on there, which you can combine with tickets. Not sure about free dining, think that may have passed. The airfare will probably be insane, since it always seems to be when the kids are off from school.

We just planned a trip those same days since we had the annual park passes. We are actually flying out of LGA an into JFK, because it was a big savings on the flight.
