Third Base Power Rankings - NYC has the top two players
Third Base Power Rankings - Interesting Article
This quote is very interesting... about Wright...
The fact that he was able to put up those kinds of numbers (along with 47 doubles and 73 walks) at the tender age of 22, while playing in a pitcher's ballpark, is amazing. In fact, given the gap in ages, I was very tempted to put Wright ahead of Rodriguez in these rankings. If ever there was a player on a Hall of Fame career path before their 23rd birthday, it is Wright.
And last year when I called David Wright a better player than A-Rod... all the Yankee fans laughed at me.
If he isn't better... the gap is definitely a lot closer.

Re: Third Base Power Rankings - NYC has the top two players
Wright is a good, solid, young 3B. But with youth always comes a lot of questions. He needs to establish himself for another season for non Mets fans and non New Yorkers to start realizing how talented he is. We hear about him all the time. But other cities don't have the hype on him yet. If he puts up excellent numbers again this year, the hype will be there and he will be taken more seriously.
Mets fans should be happy with this kid. He's got talent.

Unfortunately, the all star game is not always about talent (how many years past his prime did Ripken start?)
As long as the fans are voting it's still about popularity.

Believe me... thats why I will be ****** if he doesn't get in.
The guy blocking him would be Scott Rolen. Funny cause when Wright was coming up... he was compared bigtime to Rolen. Frankly, I feel he will be even better than Rolen (I think right now he is just as good... if not better).
I am hoping that all the fans saw that amazing bare handed grab that was voted by the fans nationally as the play of the year. That should give Wright some more "name recognition".
My guess for next year... he gets voted as starting 3B.
If not... you will hear me bitchin come June.
