Third trimester girls - cramping?

Anyone experiencing this? I haven't had much cramping this pregnancy but last night, ugh, it was painful. I felt really sharp pains in my lower abdomen and it woke me up through the night every hour or so. Still continuing now, but not quite as painful.

Anyone else?

I've been getting this more and more. Last week I had it pretty consistantly and it turned out I was contracting 2 min. apart. I spent a few hours in L&D and then they stopped. It's been really sporadic since then.

These just aren't going away Chat Icon And now I'm having some sporadic contractions. Nothing consistent yet though with the contractions.

Do I bother calling my ob/gyn? My next appointment isn't until Thursday but I REALLY don't feel like wasting my day idling at L&D for nothing.

if you were going to labor naturally i would say wait it out, but you're having another c-section right? i would call the OB, they may want you to come in Chat Icon

Can't they just have you come into their office to check you out.

Mine were lasting for hours but by the night...they would stop and then would start up around when I was about to lay down at 12 midnight for a few hours.

Yeah, I have a c-section scheduled for 10 days from now but I'm starting to have serious doubts that I'll make it that far.

I guess I'll call in a little while if it keeps up. Booooooooo...

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

I am 34 weeks and I'll get them on and off. I'll get a sharp cramp sometimes when I am doing nothing, other times if I am trying to take a little walk. It makes me nervous but it always goes away quickly. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said it was normal.

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

Yep, this past weekend. Saturday morning I had really bad cramps underneath my belly, donw my thighs and across my back, similar to how I feel when I have my period. They went away but came back two more times within the hour. When I got home, I sat donw for a bit and they seemed to have gone. Just feeling a little crampy again now, but nothing consistent.

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

ME TOO. i'm definitely feeling them, but they're sporadic - really no pattern whatsoever. I lost some plug, but probably not all of it. My next appt is Wednesday. Unless something changes drastically, i'm not calling.

Maybe if I were in your shoes, I'd call because #2 can go A LOT faster than #1! Chat Icon

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

I'm having them right now but sporadic. They are pretty painful. I've been having them for a week now but again sporadic. I feel like I'm getting AF. I would put on a call just to be safe.

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

I am only 28 weeks but I have been having bad braxton hicks contractions with this PG. My belly will get hard and stay that way for 10 minute stretches at a time. If your contractions are in a consistent pattern and are more than 5 in one hour before 35 weeks it is time to call the doctor. If you are after 35 weeks and they are coming in a regular pattern and not stopping when you change position it is also time to call. HTH and good luck!

Beth - I had a lot more cramping and B&H the few months when I was pregnant with my 2nd.

My theory was your body preps for labor more having already been throug it- which attributes for shorter labors for 2nd babies.

I'd call. They should be able to set you up with a monitor to get checked.

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

Still here.. the cramping subsided some, so I didn't call the doc. Just going to wait it out a little more.

Though, randomly enough, a coworker of mine stopped by towards the end of the day, took one look at me, and said I had the "look" of a woman who was about to go into labor Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Third trimester girls - cramping?

I have had it for the last week and today was especailly bad. I went to the OB and they hooked me up to the contraction monitor and found that i have been having contractions--guess that is what the bad carmping was. Felt like a horribly heavy AF was coming. Not dialted or effaced at all though. They have stopped---for now....
