This 60 year old with the twins
I don't understand why THIS story in particular has made the news. There are probably lots of people who have babies well into their 50's and 60's that don't make the news. So why has this one made the news???

I didn't know there were a lot of women in their 50's and 60's who were having babies? I thought it made the news because it's a rarity.
On the other side of that- what about all the older men (50's-60's) who are having children with younger women? Double standard. There was a NY Times article about it a few weeks ago.

I don't think there are that many 50 and 60 years old. Most of them are going through menopause, lol.

I don't think there are like hundreds, but I do know there are quite a few people having children later in life...and I personally know one.
eta...I do believe, that modern science can allow women who have gone through the menopause to have babies (I don't know how, but I do believe that they can)

Yeah I don't think there are too many 50-60 year olds having kids. I think a 60 year old having TWINS is still very rare (luckily!!- can you imagine worrying about grandma coming home pergnant )

I think the publicity surrounding is more due to the fact that at her age she intentionally had these kids..
Not that it was an "oops" surprise.

Because not all of those 50 and 60 year olds or their friends/family contacted the media about it.

That's what I thought too, although the oldest american woman to have twins.
yes she was the oldest woman in the U.S. to have twins, thats why she was in the news.

I think also because she went out of the country to have IVF since no dr's here would do it. I thought she also had the babies at the smae hospotal where the last oldest mother was a year or so ago. (I am not 100% on that one though)

Yes all you have to do is knock on your 20yr old neighbors door and borrow her eggs.
Seriously though the only way a menopausal woman can possibley have children is through donor eggs. I guarantee those twins are not biologically hers unless she froze her own eggs 30yrs ago.
