This basil plant is taking over my 1br! Help!

So dh bought a basil plant when we had our little bunnyChat Icon
Now the thing is about 3 feet tall and taking over the apartment. What on earth do we do with this? I'm tired of looking at it (and smelling it). We used a few leaves to cook with; we're not pesto fans either.

Suggestions appreciated!

Trim it down to size. Freeze some leaves to use during the winter if you plan on discarding the plant. Trimming it will not harm the plant.

I always freeze basil. I wash it and let it dry and then I take plastic wrap and lay out the leaves in a line and fold them over each other. It's always great to have basil in the house.

Cut off the branches, slap on a bow, and you have a nice Christmas gift for coworkers and acquaintances.

Personally, I would LOVE basil - that stuff is expensive and goes bad quickly.

Do you have friends/family you could share with?

I would take a bunch off your hands - we love pesto!

Try this sundried tomato pesto recipe. I love it. Pesto I usually double the basil. Also, if you belong to Sams or Costco get your sundried tomatoes there they are a lot cheaper. Chat Icon
