This is bothering me more and more so I just need to vent!

This is really bothering me more and more now.

My MIL calls yesterday. She is all in a tizzy about Comcast and DirectTV and wants to speak to my husband. I said he is not home, you can call his cell or I will tell him to call you when he gets home.

She says have him call me. She then proceeds to say, oh by the way, the pictures you posted on FB of the kids-- the ones of them sitting on the steps in their PJs so cute!! But the ones that you posted after that I couldn't look at.

So I am

She says-- those ears on DS, what are we going to do about them. He looks like dumbo, all the other kids are going to make fun of him. I don't know if it's a bad picture or not but his ears are awful. You really should grow his hair out over his ears.

I am thinking

My son's ears do stick out, he has my husband (her son's ears). She choose to tape my husbands ears back, I will not do that to him. I personally think that his ears are cute.

She is his freaking grandmother, he is named (and not by my choice) after her freaking husband and this is how she talks about her blood. Keep in mind that this is the same woman, that the first time she saw my son, said what's wrong with him? I said, nothing, why? She said, well his head is so big he has to have something wrong with him.



I have such distain for this woman I cannot begin!!!

Oh my goodness. What a nasty lady! I don't know how you don't punch her. I'm sure your son's ears are JUST PERFECT!! I'm sorry she's so mean.

I'd be livid too, you're better than I am b/c I probably would have caused a family rift by my response to her on the phone

My grandmother used to say the same thing about me. She would go so far as to flick my ears when I was little. I was always elf conscious of them. Well you know what, as an adult they are fine. They are actually small and don't stick out. My mom stuck up for me and put my grandma in her place. I am so thankful she did that. I think she is self conscious of her ears b/c generally when people have something not so nice to say it is because they focus on that thing for themselves.

OMG, I can't believe his grandmother would say that. That's probably one of the worst MIL comments I've read on LIF.

My MIL always comments on DS ears. DH had bigger ears when he was a baby, and says DS is going to also. DH grew into his ears, and if DS gets bigger ears, he will grow into them too. I always yell at DH when he doesn't say something to her about it, but after his birthday party and her saying soo much crap, I flipped out, and well hopefully she learned not to do it again lol.

Sometimes these women really need to just shut the helll up! Especially since MIL is NOT a looker at ALL!

I had the same issue with ears and inlaws.

DH has ears that stick out...it drove me crazy that they acted like I gave birth to an elf. Elf, that's what they called my perfect baby boy.

The world told me this kid was beautiful...SIL looked down and said with those ears, he really looks like an elf. I wanted to push her down a flight of stairs.

Send pics out...calls come in, oh he looks like an elf.

I have a lot of experience with crazy and rude family members. What I find works best for me is just ignoring them. Nothing you say will make her not be an idiot. She will continue to be mean and rude and may get worse if you go back at her. Hopefully you do not have to see her too often.

Thank you everyone. I just need to let it out someone where, since my husband will never stand up to her. His attitude is she is 73 or 74 years old and she is not going to change.

I am so annoyed by it. The angle does make it look worse than it truly is but he is adorable because he is my son!! I love his ears and she should too since they come from her family!!!!

Thankfully I do not have to see her until June because I am hurt her if I do.

She says things like this and then wonders why my daughter will NEVER get on the phone to talk to her. I don't blame my daughter and from now on caller id only with her.
