This is gross, but does anyone else get a smelly scalp smell?
My Dad has it and I swear it's hereditary  Sometimes I can smell it on my own head only hours after I wash my hair. I am even using head and shoulders right now. I try to really scrub my head and I'm not overly oily (if anything I am very prone to dryness). Am I doomed to have a smelly scalp for the rest of my life or is there a remedy?

I also suffer from SSS (Smelly Scalp Syndrome) One of my best friends and I came up with that.  Sometimes she'll text me, "I have a really bad case of SSS today" It's really gross but true! We've resigned ourselves to the fact that there is no cure!  I always wonder if other people can smell it 
ETA: I do think it is hereditary. My dad also has a smelly scalp!

My DH has this and my hairdresser told him to use some seabreeze astringent on his scalp and it worked wonders. Just be careful not to get any in your eyes...OUCH

no, but my diamond studs get smelly because i shower with them and get shampoo stuck between the pieces 
the smell makes me wanna hurl.
...just thought i'd share my smelly story...

If it's shortly after washing your hair, I'd guess you are stripping your natural oils and they are going into overdrive to replenish. But that's just my guess!!

LOL...I read this out loud to DH and we are laughing SO hard. This is the funniest thing I have heard in awhile...SSS!!!

I agree with this.
Try to stay away from shampoos that have the ingredient Ammonium Laureth Sulfate. They are very harsh for your hair & will strip out color & your natural oils. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is safer & more gentle on your hair. One of these two should be the 2nd main ingredient if you check the back of the bottle
I would use a deep conditioner once a week too.

This is true...I have switched to a sulfate free shampoo
That would be even better than what I posted about the Soldium Laureth Sulfate!

i know what you are talking about....we call it dirty head smell
i worked in a hair salon and when some people would get their hair blow dryed you could really smell it - even after they just got their hair washed (by me and i would SCRUB their head )...
i don't know why it happens, i know if i don't wash my hair for a few days it happens to me too and i get paranoid about it
