This is moving really fast...is this normal?
As you guys probably saw from a recent post, DH and I have an accepted bid on a house we want to buy.
Yesterday, when I told the broker that our engineer couldn't come until a week from Tuesday, she told me that it has to be within 10 days so that wouldn't work. No problem - we've got someone coming this tuesday instead.
She asked for a new pre-approval letter and I told her I'd get it on Monday. Today she calls to check on me about that.
On one hand, I want to go into contract ASAP so the house is taken off the market (it's a really good deal...I lucked out.) But on the other hand, I can only move so fast. And I told her - which she of course understood - that I'm not going into contract until that engineer's report comes back.
So...is it normal to move this quickly?

It's totally normal.
No seller is going to allow 10 days for an inspection. Never when I bought and never when I sold.
DH and I have done this a few times and every time it's been within 72 hours.
Even if you go into contract it is contingent upon inspection. DH went into contract on a house, too much came back on the inspection report and he backed out with no penalty.
Your inspection report is the final part of the negotiation of price.
ETA: W/o a full executed contract you are not protected either. The seller can pull the deal and sell to someone else.

They're moving, so they want to do this fast. Her calling you on a Sunday is NOT cool though. No need to remind you of anything. She should speak to your RE agent.
Good luck!

That's about as fast as we moved - and same reason, we wanted the house off the market! Good luck!

completely normal! i give my buyers no more than 5 days from offer acceptance to get an inspection done. it just move the process along. she probably could've waited and called you on monday morning, i always give people until noon on the date they said they would call/fax me something and then i call to follow up. she could've been sitting at the office on a sunday though and just trying to get her 'to do' list done. that just makes her a good realtor...count your blessings, some are lazy and dont follow up at all!

I think she wants to make sure you are serious, b/c if you are not and you are slow (in here eyes) that's less time that she can sell to someone else.
