Disgusting! Totally unbelievable. Chat Icon I worked in JCrew during high school and am totally disgusted. Their fur doesn't feel like cat or dog, but it sickens me that they could be using that.

I like animals just as much as the next person.

But according to this web-site

"7 million adoptable pets are killed each year, including millions of puppies. 25% of pets in shelters are purebred."

I think we should take this into consideration first.

(Not that I shop JCrew or care if they lose business or not. Just pointing something out that's all.)

I don't see why people need to consider one over the other. Chat Icon Both are pretty sad and horrific and both can be stopped if enough people took the time to educate themselves on the issues and fought to make change.

Okay, but those animals are humanely euthanized...can you show me where on that video anyone was treated humanely???

Honestly (and I don't care if I get flamed) all those asian-type countries do sick and inhumane things to dogs and cats. They'll eat them, cook them alive...it's insane.

Now I know there's going to be someone who will come on and go off about me about the meat industry...but how many of you have snuggled up to a cow or a chicken lately?

Diane, how did you contact them (J.Crew)

No intention of going off on you - your comment is just easily quotable...but that mentality is, unfortunately, all too common.

People - for the simple sake of wanting to feign ignorance - refuse to look at the middle picture. They see the beginning - a filthy, barn animal...and the end product - a burger. When in fact, pigs are more intelligent than dogs...and chickens are social animals.

Yet these poor animals are subjected to such insane cruelty and too many people look the other way - b/c they aren't "cuddly". Chat Icon

The fact of the matter is animal cruelty, is animal cruelty - no matter where it takes place. More people should be aware of these every day practices and more people should be outraged by them. Chat Icon

I think there's a big difference between raising something for a necessity like food, and raising something for vanity-related purposes. No flames from me!

I'm just so angry and appalled that this type of cruelty exists. Did you see those SOB's just tossing the cages to the ground, like old bales of hay?? I sent a very nasty email to JCREW. Like I'm sure they care what my opinions are...I'm still waiting for some devil's advocate, PCist to come on and "show" me the error of my ways...Chat Icon

How in the world is this the same thing? They are euthanized NOT thrown off of trucks, locked in cramped corners, not fed, in the same cages with dead animals and skinned for their fur!

I don't know what you think you are pointing out but one has little to do with the other

I'm not defending or justifying cruelty towards ANY animals..I'm not a full blown vegan per say, but at least with cows, they serve for other purposes...like the leather industry, dairy, etc. Are you going to tell me you don't have one pair of leather shoes, a leather bag or wallet, anything goose down in your home, etc???

Re: This is not for people with weak stomachs...

I don't like j Crew because they really scr$#ed me on an order I placed with them and never felt that I got treated right. So I refused to shop with them. I couldn't watch the video but have seen this sort of thing on late, late cable. But this gives me another reason not to shop for them.

I just hate seeing any animal tortured (except for snakes).

I suppse I would be the PC to point out the errors here.

"Asian type"? Chat Icon That kind of cruelty happens in ALL countries including this one and is not restricted to "Asian type" countries.

People is every country eat them, and all animals are killed before they are eaten. It appears as though the offense is that it is being done by "Asian type" countries.

Like I said, people refuse to look at the middle picture - let alone the entire picture. Cows aren't here to serve any purpose other than their own existence. It's pretty self-centered of us to think otherwise.

Knowing what I know and posted - why would you even think to ask me if I own any of those things?? I don't understand why you would attack me b/c I raised some valid points and facts. Chat Icon

How many videos have I personally seen from some asian based country where dogs/cats are being skinned alive, beaten over the head, etc.? Too many to want to recall. If you want to read into my generalization, then fine. Show me some video of that happening here (and yes I do watch Animal Pricient - actually one of the officers is a personal friend and I hear stories of worse atrocities) and I won't be so "general"
