This is probably the wrong board but...ATTN TEACHERS
I figured you ladies are all the best and many teachers and lots of traffic. So here goes...
I am hoping to get a FT elementary level teaching job for September. What are the guidlelines for maternity leave and stuff. I was thinking it is best to wait until you are tenured especially because I will probably want more than 12 weeks off or whatever it is. Others are trying to convince me it is not a big deal to get pregnant like your second year or something. I just don't feel comfortable doing that and I thought we were going to start now (I had a m/c) but we decided to wait so now I just want to figure out how long I will most likely be waiting...

i waited until I was tenured, but a lot of teachers in my district got preggo end of their first year and second. Some took for the remainder of the year, I think it depends on your district and your position.

This is my first year in my new school district, and Im pregnant. They were really good about it. I am due the end of May, so luckily I am not missing that much time.

This is my second year and I'm due in May. I think that it really depends on your administrator. Mine doesn't believe in untenured teachers getting pg and she has been giving me a harder time than usual, but that is just her nature. If anything, they will just push my tenure back a few weeks (the amount of time I take off). I'm planning to come back the last day or two of school just to show my face.
