And my response:

Dear Vinny:

You sound like a wonderful, loyal cat. You are right where you should be, making sure you are with your mom and watching over her. As you know, cats are very smart and if you have been sticking by her side there is certainly a reason. I have to be honest with you Vinny, it is a cruel world out there for a kitty. I was lucky, my mom adopted me when I was just 8 weeks old and nearly everybody else wants a baby kitty too (since there really isnt much difference between a baby kitty and an older kitty). I am afraid Vinny that if you dont stay put where you are, you will likely wind up in a cage somewhere with no one to appreciate all your loyalty. It is also kitten season and all of those cages fill up real quickly and well...I'll let your mom tell you what happens if you're in a shelter too long without being adopted. My advice is to nuzzle up to your mom every chance you can and show her all the reasons why she picked you to begin with. I do this every day with my mom and know that no matter what happens, whether through sickness (dad is allergic to me but he takes a pill he loves me so much) or whether we moved (we are in the process of moving and only look at places that loves kitties!) my mom and dad will always take care of me because I'm their little girl. Hang in there Vinny, there is no place like home! I'm rooting for you!

i am curious... what if this woman has an illness more serious than allergies (like you assume) and she really wants to find him a good home while she still can?

The original post said that the "mom" was sick every other day and it was not fair to "Vinny" that he been cooped up with her all day. I didnt assume she had allergies. I was using my own circumstances as an example. Her post didnt mention moving but I put it in mine too. I think my point was that this woman's cat is better off keeping his sick owner company than being given away from the life that he knows.

sorry, i disagree.

if she is that sick, it is possible she cannot properly care for the animal.

it is also possible that she just has allergies and meds are not working. but i don't get that feeling from her listing.

she is trying to find the cat a good home, what is wrong with that?

my cat is a rehomed pet

I took him in at 7

he is much better off

I am so glad his orginal owner could no longer care for him- he is an amazing little guy that never had a chance to be his real self until I took him home

I also think that maybe the owner may possibly have an illness. But what about the dog? Is that being given away as well.
