This may be the wrong board....
but I hope you don't mind because I need some advice - I am worried.
My dog is sick :(
He just got over a case of colitis....
Now over the last few days he has thrown up a few times. He seemed ok - but then yesterday he was up ALL night - he threw up three times.
I brought him to the vet today - they cant find anything physically wrong with him - but they gave him some fluids (he was a little dehydrated) and told me to give him pepcid for a few days.
He ONLY eats dog food...and when he is in the house I keep a close eye on him - so I dont think he ate any plants or anything.
The only other thing I give him (we have been laying off the treats since he has been sick) is a little peanut butter when I leave in the am. The dr. said maybe he has a peanut allergy?
Does anyone have any advice - ever had this problem? I am so worried about him...I want him to be ok. I have him at work with me today - he is a little lethargic (but then again so am I - neither one of us slept last night)
I have only had him 3 weeks - so I am still learning his behaviors and actions....I feel a little helpless......HELP!

Well for starters, I would stop giving him the PB in case he is allergic.
How old is he?

Yeah I am going to stop the PB immediately!
He is a little dehydrated - but that is a side effect of being sick the dr. said. (He also suggested I give him some pedialyte)
I hope its just a peanut allergy!!
He is around 1.5 - 2 - the vet isnt sure (he was a stray I took in)

One other thing I thought of... if you have a lawn, do you use chemicals or pesticides that he might have ingested? Or did you walk him somewhere where there may have been chemicals?

Good question - he does tend to like to walk on grass around the hood - Idont have chemicals but I am not sure about everyone else....
Either way I make sure he doesnt eat grass...but can he ingest anything by sticking his face in it and sniffing?

No but if he walked through it and then came home and licked his paws...
And someone said the dog food. Is your dog scratching alot? He could be allergic to an ingredient in the food.

I am giving him Nurtro Max - the vet tells me its ok - but he is scratching quite a bit
If laying off the PB doesnt do it - I will change his food. What other dry food is good for a dog around 2?

There are so many, but it is best to consult with your vet for a recommendation.
Some foods I have been happy with:
Evolve Wellness Canidae (what they are currently eating now)
When I do swap for whatever reason (very rarely though) I slowly introduce the new food by mixing it in graded proportions voer time so as not to do further damage to their digestive system.

Re: This may be the wrong board....
Thank you so much everyone for the advice. It makes me feel so much better to know it's going to be ok - I just really want what is best for him - and I feel like I am doing something wrong when he doesn't feel well.
Thank you so so much!
