I think we should all get together and BAN the network that gives into Casey Anthony's demand of 1.5 million for a tv interview!

Television networks are set to make Casey Anthony a millionaire, bidding up to $1.5million for exclusive rights to her story, it has been reported.
After the notorious young mother was acquitted of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee earlier this month, media outlets have desperately been clamouring for her first post-jail interview, with figures offered said to be in the millions.
One network has, however, decided to take a stand against the bidding war. Broadcaster ABC said it is to end six figure payments for photographs and videos that lead to exclusive interviews after accusations it was employing 'chequebook journalism' in high profile cases such as the Casey Anthony trial.

The bidding to licence video and pictures from Anthony - a common industry practice to pay for exclusivity without explicitly doing so - is currently at $1.5million, according to TMZ.

The website reported that demand is such that one syndicated talk show had an offer of $250,000 to speak to her parents, George and Cindy, laughed off as way below the mark.
Anthony's lawyer, Jose Baez, is said currently to be camped at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York fielding offers for his client.

A source said he met with high-profile lawyer Mark Geragos to discuss a media strategy, according to the Daily News.

The payment of fees for interviews is strictly forbidden among American TV networks.

In 2008 ABC paid Casey Anthony's family $200,000 for photos, just before she was charged with her daughter Caylee's murder.

They also paid Roy Kronk, who first discovered Caylee's remains, $15,000 to license 'a photo of a snake.'
Money was offered for an exclusive interview with the 'Botox Mom' who supposedly injected her 8-year-old daughter with Botox. The payment was withheld after the story fell through.

But to get around this, executives have paid vast sums for exclusive photographs and videos of high profile cases with the implication that the subjects will then give an interview.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, ABC News president Ben Sherwood said it decided to end the practice after people began to assume every interview had been obtained in such a way.
He said: 'Whenever ABC landed a high-level booking, questions were raised about whether money had changed hands.'
Sherwood noted this had been the case recently when Good Morning America's Robin Roberts landed an exclusive with the hotel maid allegedly attacked by Dominique Strauss-Kahn - even though this was not the case.
The network was attacked for paying Casey Anthony'S family $200,000 for photographs in 2008.
And in the Anthony Weiner trial, Meagan Broussard was given between $10,000 and $15,000 for photographs she sent to the disgraced congressman.

The subsequent exclusive '20/20' interview was defended by host Chris Cuomo at the time as the 'state of play' in journalism.
They also gave a mother $10,000 after she claimed to have given her eight-year-old daughter botox.
The story later turned out to be false and the payment was subsequently withheld.
