Thomas Playtable -- is this a good deal?
I'm planning on getting this for DS for Christmas. I originally was going to go with this one (the one with the storage bins)
Table with Bins - $249.97
but i just got an e-mail from All Aboard Toys showing that they have this one on sale which is the plain table. PLUS the playtop board is free.
Table with Free One Sided Tabletop - $149.97
Both are about $42 in shipping and i haven't searched yet if I could find a coupon code.
So my question, with shipping is this a good deal? Also, would you recommend one over the other? Or is there another table out there I don't know of. It seems like I could always just purchase my own storage bins to put underneath the second one because I can't justify spending $100 more for storage bins.
any insight would be much appreciated!

Re: Thomas Playtable -- is this a good deal?
Me personally wouldn't spend that much on a train table. For Xmas 2 years ago, my sister got Caiden the Imaginarium train table w/train set. It was $100.00 and you don't have to pay for shipping if you go to Toys R' Us. I think Thomas is over priced big time so what we did was just get him and now Connor, the Thomas the train pieces themselves and save lots of money. We have a lot of Thomas stuff besides the trains, but I just think the Thomas table is too expensive. The one we got also has a drawer on each side which I like better than the bins since you don't see what's inside. Good luck!

I don't know if you're near any Christmas Tree Shops, but my mom bought DS a train table for his bday and it was like $60. I had a big drawer with two sections on the bottom that wheels out. It's not as big or detailed as the Thomas ones, but it serves it's purpose. It even came with some wooden trains and tracks, chalk, game pieces (it has chutes and ladders on one side) and checlers pieces (also on the chutes and ladders side.) I thought it was a great deal and he plays with tons of other toys on the table top too.

thanks for your input.
Is this like the one you have? This looks cool too but $129.99 at TRU w/ free shipping. I just don't need all the extra pieces.

I think I'm going to go with the imaginarium one. I agree that I don't need all the extra pieces but I guess for the price, I can't complain if they want to give me more!!!

This is the one we have, ours just came with a different train set. If you think you like the Imaginarium one it does go on sale every year for like $89.00. I think it's a little closer to Xmas though.

Julia has the table with the one sided flip top and loves it, she got is last christmas. Its also for a good price on that side, I think we paid close to $300 at a toy store by me.

Oh wow! Good to know!! TRU has it on sale but it's only $20 off right now. I guess we can wait then. They don't sell out, do they? I doubt it.

Re: Thomas Playtable -- is this a good deal?
Ooh I'm so glad to see this thread!
I've been debating this entire Thomas thing, but I totally cannot justify the price of ANYTHING Thomas (esp. since DS really isn't into Thomas by any means .. I don't even think he gets it yet. and I really hope that craze skips by him ) BUT at the same time he LOVES trains and train tables (he plays with his cousins Thomas stuff at their house) so I was thinking about getting him one
I LOVE the Imaginarium one linked above... I think that will be his Christmas gift. Thanks so much for posting!
