Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
OMG! I want to kick myself every time, but we have pretty good bedroom furniture to sell. So I posted the nice bedframe from PB, 6 drawer dresser, bench, etc. I get about 70 - 80 inquiries if not more... still available? I contact the first interested and going to pick up same day. THen I don't hear from her, then she is still going to get, but her DH is late with work, etc, etc. So by 8PM I don't hear from her and still getting psycho's asking if it's still available and offering way less. I have people saying they are in their car and ready to come.
Never hear back so this morning I say to her I'm sorry, but I guess she wasn't interested anymore and will move onto the next person and wish her luck nicely. She gets all mad saying she was too busy to respond last night and that's why and she was interested, but whatever since I'm moving on. Amazing how she doesn't respond to anything last night and then this morning responds ASAP to my 6AM message. Why is this so stressful! Ok, vent over. It's not the end of the world, but trying not to dump nice stuff that I'd rather give cheap to someone in need I thought would be easier.

Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
Happens to me all the time! I rarely post on there anymore because of it. However, a few months ago, I posted my daughter’s drsser and nightstand for a cheap price. Everyone that was interested either never showed up or never responded to me. I ended up posting it for free cause we needed it out ASAP. Some woman came, wanted the furniture and asked my husband if he can deliver it to her 3 towns over. He said no way and she ended up not taking it cause she had no way to get it home. Honestly, the furniture was free... she could have rented a Home Depot truck for $25 and be done with it.

Yup. I’m amazed by how rude people are on FB marketplace. I hate when they don’t show up and never bother sending a message.

Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
I’ve had some luck selling items. I always add a little more because everyone will ask for a discount. I keep my responses basic and professional.
I respond yes to all posts I feel comfortable with. I then wait for them to respond. I am not so quick to give out my address. I never ask when the can pick up, I always wait for them to ask my about availability. I try and do the right thing about going in order but I also don’t want to lose a potential buyer.
I know you wanted to be nice but I don’t ask why they didn’t come or tell them sorry I am moving on. I just ignore them like they did to me or just right something basic as it is no longer available. You don’t own anyone an explanation.

Re: Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
I had one woman ask for a lower price and I agreed because I was worried I wouldn't have any other offers. She shows up to my house with 40 dollars, I was selling the item for 40 but she asked if I would take 35 online and I said yes and then asks me for change. I should have said no but I was stunned that she had done that. I usually donate my stuff to a church but lately Im thinking of doing the pick up for free on Facebook just to get it out of my house.

I would rather put the shit at the curb and let the garbage pickers take it then deal with these low balling assholes. And that's what I do. And if it's anything half way decent, it's gone by morning anyway. There are people who drive around looking for stuff on garbage nights. Have at it!

Similar thing happened to me when I was selling my kid's train table. I said I'd take the $5 lower price they offered and showed up with the asking price and asked for change. I'm like... I don't have any so she just gave me the asking to begin with. Some people!

I completely agree! I'm always giving away brand new shit with tags (things my kids get as gifts that we just can't or won't use) and everyone is like "why don't you sell it on FB?" Seriously, you couldn't pay me enough to deal with it. Bless the heart of anyone that can deal with that nonsense.

Re: Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
In my town, people just say I am putting xxx out with the trash and post a photo. It is literally first come first served and if no one comes, the trash takes it the next day. It seems to work well, because they update the posts with taken by the end of the hour. So while you might not get cash, it is out of your home.
Edit, I also live near a VA hospital, so after veterans come out they transition to apartments and people ask for and get furniture for the vets all the time. So it is a good cause and they pick stuff up. I wonder if there is a shelter or vets near you that might do the same.

Re: Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
That stinks!!! I've actually had really good luck on it with furniture. Smaller items, not so much. 2 nights ago someone picked up my daughter's dresser and hutch. Last night we sold her crib, and tonight someone wants to p/u her glider. I've also sold my son's dresser on there and a large couch.
I try to line up a buyer and then have a second in case that person does not show. I let the second person know it's pending p/u and if they don't show, it's theirs.

Yep. I was getting rid of a tv last week and most of the messages I got weren't in english! Then i get one guy who is telling me (i had to translate) that I did something to the tv, that's why it was free. I don't know why I even argued back....but come on, its free. You want it or not?

Yes! I got a few in another language too and just responded … No, pending pick up. I'm assuming they were asking if it's still available. LOL

I'm so torn. On one hand, I'd love to get money for the stuff. But on the other, I don't want to deal with the nonsense. I used to try to sell stuff on Craigslist, but it wasn't worth the time I put into a listing (and emailing and meeting) for $10. So, now I'm just collecting everything I want to sell in the spring at a yard sale, and whatever doesn't sell will go straight to donation.

I now just post on a free fb page and if it’s not picked up within 24hrs I put it on the curb or drop it off at savers. I gave up with selling.

Re: Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
Yeah… Update. So it worked out the original woman did come back and took the 3 items and shortly after another woman came to get the final item. Still a pain in the butt and way too many messages popping up, but glad I sold everything for cost I asked for. 1 item she offered $5 more. Nice to make money and give our furniture a good home, but still stressful! LOL

Re: Those FB Buy, Sell Swap!!!
Had two flops this week. I swear I hate people. One person didn’t show up TWICE. The first time he said he was sick and said he would come by the next day. Didn’t show. A waste of my time and I told him that.
I have something up for 65. I get the standard is this still available line. I say yes and he asks how much. I quote the price in the ad, 65. He says 40. I say 55 or 50 if you pick it up ASAP. He says 40 again. I repeat. He doesn’t answer. I hate selling things!
