Those of who are self-employed, do you have
disability insurance and how did you get it?

Re: Those of who are self-employed, do you have
I believe I pay for disability through my taxes, I am on a 1099. My DH has a supplemental benefit plan from his employer as well as medical benefits. I get my benefits mostly through DH. I hope that answers your question.

No, I didn't get disability insurance but I looked into it when I went 1099. And no just because you have a 1099 that doesn't mean you are covered.
I am on DH's health insurance plan.

Ok then, I was not sure. I am on Dh's plan so I never really thought about it too much. Thanks for the info.

Re: Those of who are self-employed, do you have
I THINK... As an employee in NYS who pays taxes, you may be entitled to the public disability insurance (social security).
However, there are also private disability insurance companies- like life insurance. (I Just went through this- I am not self employed, but DH is)
If you are self employed, you will need to prove your income via taxes. They usually compensate you up to 80% of your annual salary. You need to pass a physical and they will examine your medical records and then give you a rate depending on your job, income, age, health, etc...
