Those of you that plan meals for the week...a question
do you always stick to your plan?
DH and I plan, and get groceries according to the plan...
If it was his way, he'd rather stick to the plan 100% of the time, even if he doesn't want to eat it, to not waste food
I sometimes would rather get take out, so now I said lets leave a day and not plan for it b/c it happens anyways...he is fine w/this but I know its irritating us both that our habits about meals are not the same
Just curious as to what you do

we stick to it mostly, or try to, but we are flexible enough that if we need to switch things around or really just want to not cook and do take-out or something we will. I'd say we stick to it about 90%.

Re: Those of you that plan meals for the week...a question
I dont always stick to the plan 100%. If we have a longer day at work then expceted or really tired, we may take an easier meal that was on the menu and make that instead, and just switch it up. Normally we do not just grab take out or go out. I do always try to use the food we have even if we do not make it how i planned too. Sat and Sun's are more flexable b.c of parties and unexpected plans so i always to try plan something quick and w/ indrigents that i can keep and use the following week's.

Not always. Sometimes I forget to take out the meat. Sometimes something else comes up. This weekend we had a BBQ and have way more leftovers then I thought so we are having leftovers another day.
Even if I don't make something this week, I'll just carry it over and make it next week.

Re: Those of you that plan meals for the week...a question
I plan 2 weeks in advance. I build in 4 days (in addition to any nights that we already have plans to go out for) that I don't buy dinner supplies for, because after a few months of grocery shopping, that was approximately the amount of times we either went out and/or were invited somewhere in a 2 week span. So I include the "days off" so that we are still sticking to the plan and not wasting anything or whatnot.

Re: Those of you that plan meals for the week...a question
We try to stick to the plan as best we can. If we end up going out or changing the plan, I move the recipe to the following week. I'd say we stick to our planning about 90-95% of the time, but things happen that we can't control.
