Those of you that use Royal Jelly etc...
After reading about the benefits of royal jelly, bee pollen, dhea, and coq10 by many of you ladies, I started taking these after my failed IVF in April. I did not inform my RE because she seems to not take much faith in supplements improving egg quality. She did say that my estrogen levels need to be low enough for me to start the stimms after I have been on Lupron for a week ( I am on bcp now and start Lupron on the 11th) I had read that dhea can raise your estrogen levels so I stopped taking it two days ago. My question is when do you stop the other supplements? A friend of mine going through IVF was told she had to stop once she started stimming. I have read that you should keep taking them until the ER. Thoughts????

honestly even if your RE doesnt believe in supplements helping, you should get approval on which ones to use with your meds. you just never know and its better to tell the RE what you are on. whether they believe in them or not they should be able to at least give you a truthful response as to any contraindications between the supplements and the meds you are on.

DHEA is testosterone not estrogen. I don't remember it making an impact on estrogen at all. Most supplements like fish oil/omega 3's and CoQ10 you can take always. But, things like bee pollen, evening primrose oil and DHEA should be stopped after ER. Though I did read once that some people in those DHEA studies stayed on them till positive beta. You really need to list out everything you are taking and then I could probably tell you when to stop or what is safe etc... I have an RE now who tells me to take supplements. I take Vit. D during cycles and I stopped and my endo said I was Vit. D deficient so I started taking all the time now. My numbers are good now. Obviously vitamins are fine to take and you should take a pre-natal while cycling. Obviously, I've spent way too much time researching supplements.
If you are not aware, soy can have an estrogen like affect on your body. So, I would stay clear away from any soy products right now, just in case.

I drink soy milk so thanks for the heads up! I had read that dhea can present itself at either testosterone or estrogen so I figured since my levels need to be low I'd better not take any chances. As for all the other supplements you mentioned, I'm taking those too so fingers crossed they are helpful. I'm going to call me RE this week and let her know so she can weigh in on the situation before I start the Lupron. Thank you all for your input

The only thing I was taking was royal jelly. I stopped taking it when I started stimming. I wouldn't play with DHEA without your doctor's okay.
