Those of you who run outside
What do you do about a drink? I typically work out at the gym but since I am signing up for the 5K I decided to do at least one run outside a week. Yesterday I went running and I brought my water with me and just carried it in my hand. I was wondering if anyone had another idea about how to carry your drink?

I have a nathan handheld. But I usually take it on runs longer than 30 minutes. I also will forgo it if I am running where I know there are water fountains.

Re: Those of you who run outside
I run in Eisenhower Park. If I get thirsty, I'll stop at my car and have some water from my water bottle.
I know my dad hides his water bottle behind a tree or something on his long runs.

Re: Those of you who run outside
I have one of those fanny packs that has the spot for a water bottle on my back.
I know MissFab just said her dad hides his drink behind a tree----I did that once and then I saw a dog pee on it. I will NEVER do that again!
ETA: I got my bottle carrier at Sports Authority.

Re: Those of you who run outside
I really only take liquids with me if I will be running for more than an hour. If it's hot and humid, I might if I'm going over 5 miles.
I have a fuel belt. I have heard of others stashing water around their route or running on a route that has water fountains.

Re: Those of you who run outside
I am the worst, if I run anything less than 5-6 miles I do not even think about bringing water with me. if i am running a longer distance I will either run in central park and use water fountains or beg the guy at DD to give me some water when I run by!

Re: Those of you who run outside
I never bring anythings with me. But my longest run has been 5 miles. When I start doing longer runs for my 1/2 marathon training I will be getting a fuel belt. Especially since these long runs will start during the summer.

Re: Those of you who run outside
For anything less than an hour, I just drink before I run and right after. For really hot days and runs longer than an hour, I have a hand held running bottle. I don't really like carrying anything when I run so I'm looking at other options.

Same. I don't bring anything for under 6 mile run. If longer than 6 I will carry a water bottle. Now that I am running longer more often I was looking at the belts with mini water bottles.

Re: Those of you who run outside
If you are usually thirsty wheny ou run you should definitely drink...the last thing you want is to get dehydrated! I would get one of those small handheld water bottles or a waist band. Look up Fuel Belt products...they are all pretty small and light and they do offer handhelds too! I love them!

Re: Those of you who run outside
I have this, and while yes you are technically still carrying it, youre not really, its actually strapped to your hand, plus you can fit your ID, house key etc, in the pocket.
Its by fuel belt

Re: Those of you who run outside
I never carry anything with me. I drink before and after.
At races, if I need a drink I slow down at a water station. I rarely do it at 5K's. I stopped at the 10K for a few drinks midway. Only because they were there.

IMAGE do they sell this at sports authority? I'll probably need something for my half.

I think SA and Dicks have similar ones. I got my Nathan at Runners Edge in Farmingdale.

Re: Those of you who run outside
I have a lumbar pack with a water bottle for my really long runs (more than an hour). If it is a really hot day I will take it if I am running more than 30 minutes but anything less than that I just leave it at home.
