those of you who took baby on vacation under 1 years old- come on in!

We're planning on taking Luca to Mexico in either July or August- so he would be 9-10 months. I know we should never have him in the car without a carseat and it would be easy enough to check it with the luggae, but here's my question... say we want to go out to dinner away from our resort and need to cab it, do I lug the huge carseat? And if so, what the heck do I do with it when we're eating? Or if we want to walk around in town?
Also, as far as food and formula go, should I bring most of it from home or buy it there? I know there's a Walmart up the street.

If there's a WalMart I would just buyt it there. I think I brought 2 days worth just in case we got delayed traveling.
As for the car seat I'm not sure what to say.
We went to Disney and we were on the bus without a car seat and two of the bus rides were long, over 45 minutes.
I guess in a car in Meixco I might say better safe than sorry. We actually just brought the infant seat since she still fit the requirements even though at home we were using the convertible. It was easier to carry. Any chance he'll still fit in that? It's easier to tote around.

He may still fit into it but I know once we got out of the car he wouldn't want to stay in it. And since I'll just bring an umbrella stroller, we'd still have to carry it around. But you're right, atleast it's easier to tote around then the regular car seat.

We rented a car when we were away but I would bring enough formula, wipes, diapers etc just to get you there and then buy the rest when you get there.

Are you going to Cancun? Becuse if you do, there is a bus system that goes up and down the strip 24/7. I don't think it has seat belts, so you could just hold the baby in your lap. Otherwise, I would suggest renting a car. A lot of agencies rent car seats too.

No, we're going to Puerto Vallarta. Our resort is in Nuevo Vallarta, so like a 20 minute ride from town. But it's not really the kind of place that you would rent a car.

We went to Turks & Caicos when Peyton was 9 months old. We did not bring a car seat, however, our resort was all inclusive so we didn't leave the resort. We brought powder formula and used the bottled water from the hotel. We brought bottles, swimmy diapers and diapers. We brought an umbrella stroller because we were not lugging that big stroller w/us.

We also brought baby food two jars per day and she had yogurt almost every meal (in addition to her bottles) from the hotel restaurant.

We had a crib in the room (bring sheets from home).

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

We went to the DR when DD was 1 1/2 and we brought her car seat on the plane, but when we got there we realized that none of the cars or buses had seat belts. So our ride to and from the airport as well as one outing was spent holding her. It wasnt ideal but we had to adapt
