Those of you who took Progesterone supplements..........

........when did your doctor have you stop? My last day on the progesterone is tomorrow and I will be 10wks. The doctor said that's typically when they stop you on the supplements because by then the placenta starts to take over and any hormone defiencies that you had go away. I am just nervous to go off of them because I've been on them for so many weeks now and even being on them my progesterone levels were still on the low side of normal. Anyway, I am sure there is nothing to worry about but I wanted a little reassurance. Thanks!!!!

I took oral supplements from week 7 to week 11....At my 9 week appt, my doc told me to stop them at week 10 but when I told him I had a two week supply left, he told me to finish the prescription.

After about 10-11 weeks the placenta takes over the production of progesterone instead of our bodies, so the supplements are no longer necessary.


Did you find you were constantly bloated b/c of them??

Is the bloat from the suppositories??? I was wondering what the problem was. I knew I couldn't be getting this big already! Last time I did PIO and I don't remember being bloated.

I did the PIO last time until 10 weeks and then slowly weaned off of it and by 12 weeks I was done.

Wow I am so glad I saw this. I am on them for 5 days and I woke up this morning thinking what is going on with my stomach. It blew up.

I used the Natural Progesterone cream until week 12.

I took them until I was almost 12 weeks.

I was on progestrone suppositories until 12 weeks.

I am not sure if that is the same as the supplements though

i was on the suppositories until week 11....only bc i had some to finish and my doctor said it wouldn't hurt. otherwise, if i had already been done with them i would've stopped at week 10. good luck to you! i'm sure everything will go great!

Thanks everyone!! I am on the suppositories as well and like I said, I was nervous to stop tomorrow even though I am 10 wks. I called the RE and said I would feel better if I could stay on them for just another week or two until I have my Ultrascreen on March 7th. (They said that was fine) After I see the baby again and hear the heartbeat again I will feel much, much better about stopping them. By then the placenta should be "up and running" full force so I won't need the progesterone at all anymore!!!

12 weeks...he wouldnt let me stop before then...I had run out of the prescription at 11 weeks and had asked if I could stop then...NOPE!!!
