Those that BF & FF.....question

do you switch back and forth randomly or do you have a "schedule" like formula at night, BF during the day?

yes, I would usually bf during the day and then ff at night (like from 6pm on)

I did the opposite - I formula fed during the day and breastfed at night. I stopped for other resons but it worked for a couple of weeks.

I was pretty random with boob, bottle, BM, formula - no routine or schedule. Though when she was still waking during the night, I would always nurse her (cause it was easier than making a bottle).

In the beginning I would just switch on and off without following any real pattern.

Now that DD is 9 weeks:

breast feedings in the morning until

around mid afternoon

mid afternoon (3pm or so) until 8pm ish - formula

nighttime feedings - breast.

I found that in the mid afternoon/evening DD would nurse from one breast, but would get lazy/tired and not take the other breast - but she'd still be hungry.

I always try to nurse first.

If he's not satisfied then I give some formula.

When I went back to work I still BF in the morning, evening and before bed, and my DD got one botle of pumped breastmilk and then formula during the day. Later on (from around 8-12 months old?) I stopped pumping so formula during the day, and BM only at night.

I give Abby a bottle 1 *maybe* 2x a day: If I am out, I do a midday bottle; around 7pm she gets a bottle too...when Daddy can do it

I bf'd during the day and FF for night feedings. I felt she slept longer on formula then on breast milk.

When I BFed, I would give her brestmilk dring the day and formula at night.

We are pretty random with it. I, personally, nurse her. But my parents or DH give her bottles occasionally. Sometimes if I feel that I have been nursing all afternoon, I will ask someone to give her a bottle. She doesn't seem to like a bottle from me and I personally don't like giving her one now that she likes to nurse so much.

Usually supplement a daycare bottle with formula a few times a week - I generally put it at the same time every day - morning or midday bottle. But no set schedule. Otherwise she is BF.

While I was still home on maternity leave, I would primarilly BF. If I was out and had no where private, I would FF (I am not the type to "whip" em out ). With that said though, I have BF in dressing rooms, conference rooms, the mother's room at a local Babies r us, my car, etc.
Since coming back to work when DS was 4 mo, I would BF only in the mornings before work and at night once or twice. I HATED pumping so I stopped that afrer only 2 months or so. On the weekends, for a few weeks, I would BF all day as well.
For me, it wsn't so much what he was eating but the closeness that BF afforded us. I realize for you though, with Ally being so young, you don't really have all that much "extra" time during the day. I think what ever breastmilk you are able to provide your little one is bettter than none at all
