Those that decided to stop at 2 kids...

But really wanted a 3rd...please tell me how that decision has made your life better now that your children are older.

I sound like a broken record but I'm pretty sure we are done at 2 even though we really want a third it's not realistic. For those moms that have BTDT I'd like to know now with your kids being older and into more activities are you glad you stopped at 2?

Re: Those that decided to stop at 2 kids...

Can't say I definitely wanted 3 but always considered at least 2 children. After my first I was pretty sure I would just take one more go at it. My youngest just made 2 so still have not enjoyed the no diapers at all stage (but looking forward to that!) I nursed both my girls so there was a brief mourning after I was done with #2 then I enjoyed the freedom of having my body back! With my oldest into more and more extracurricular activities it makes it easier having only one other to drag along with me. While I love my babies when they were babies I don't miss the sleepless nights and I'm looking forward to more and more time to focus on bettering me when they're in school. I recently went back to school myself and started working out (my little one goes to mother's day out once a week)

Congrats on going back to school and focusing on yourself now Chat Icon It's a great feeling.

My youngest will be 2 in March. On crazy days I feel like I'm complete and other days I want another. I think a 3rd would most definitely sent my house over the edge. BUT then I think in 12+ years from now when all is quiet around the house and the kids are independent will I sit there and say I wish I had that insanity for a few years with a third child.

Right now I need to be grateful that I have 2 beautiful healthy boys. If I'm meant to have a 3rd then I will. I need to focus on them now...it's just SO hard when all I think about is babies.

I wanted 3 so badly but I've had life threatening deliveries and my doctor said no more. Chat Icon It still hurts that I can't have more and my heart aches sometimes when I see a newborn. That being said my oldest DD is about to be 4 and my youngest in 2.3 and we're going to Disney in April!! I would never do that with another one around. There's soooo much I can do with the 2 of them now that I just wouldn't/couldn't if I had a newborn again. It's nice that they are somewhat independent and I don't have to constantly hold or watch out for a third. Another great aspect is that there is so much more we will be able to give these kids financially, as well as more vacations, activities, etc. The sleep is great too! Chat Icon

Pretty much this.
I have two beautiful boys. A 2 1/2 yr old and a 6 month old
Some days I think 2 is enough and then other days it scares me to think I'm all done.
OVer the weekend we had a friend's party for a Christening at her house. I had my 6 month old in their bouncy and stood by him while DH followed our toddler around hoping he doesn't fall down the steps or break something.
My friends we were with had older kids. I was a bit jealous watching them drink their wine and eat TOGETHER (not one at a time) while their kids entertained themselves.
Even though I love this stage sometimes I can't wait to get to the next step where I don't have to be on top of them either.
Also, we can't afford 3 in daycare right now and I can't afford to leave my job either.

Re: Those that decided to stop at 2 kids...

I always knew I wanted 2 & after my 2nd was born, I toyed with the idea of a third. I then realized that god gave me 2 hands for a reason. My Dh works long hours & most of the time it is solely me caring for the boys. I know I could not handle the dynamic if a third even when my two grow older. My boys are only 10.5 months apart, currently 27 months & 17.5 months, so once I'm done with bottles & diapers, I want to be done.

Financially 2 is the best option for us to maintain our lifestyles yet provide the best for our children & put them through college. I don't want to deprive our boys of things to just be selfish & have another.

There are days that I'm bummed that I'm.done but then the days where I'm pulling my hair out, I am at peace with it. I will be having my tubes tied come the fall, so then I will be officially closed for anymore kids. It definitely us something you have to take the time to really think about & weigh all your options.

Re: Those that decided to stop at 2 kids...

I'm very interested in hearing responses too. I'm currently pregnant with number two and although I'm FREAKING out about having two DC (a 2 year old and a newborn), I already know I won't feel "complete". DH is DONE DONE DONE at two, even before #2 is here! He can maybe be persuaded (or drugged), but I do go back and forth over getting the diaper and stroller years over with all at once, or waiting a few years to have a third, and basically start all over again. Time is not on my side as I'll be 35 in two weeks. Chat Icon

I hear people say 3 kids pushed them over the edge but my mom was a single mom with 4 girls under the age of 7...and she loved every minute (or so she says NOW! Chat Icon )

Re: Those that decided to stop at 2 kids...

I'm pg with number 2 now and I've always wanted 3. Dh has said he might want 4. However we just had a conversation that we may be done with 2. We're so exhausted and we know more exhaustion is coming our way. I also have to go through IF treatments to get pg so I feel extremely lucky to have our beautiful dd and one more on the way. I'm not sure I will have the time to devote to IF treatments in the future. So I'm trying to come to terms that this may be my last pregnancy.
