those that have been to coco key resort indoor waterpark, questions for you.....
So dh and I are thinking of taking a small two night getaway with dd (18months old) to the Coco Key Resort in Waterbury at the end of this month.
Questions....
How was the food at the Parkside Grille Restaurant, Grand Cafe and Pizza Hut Express for food?
Is there anywhere close to eat that's better than these choices but won't break the bank?
Does the indoor pool at the holiday inn hotel get packed or it is a reasonable amount of ppl bc most are at the waterpark?
Is the Parrot's Perch the only part of the waterpark that's appropriate/good for toddlers/kids my dd's age?
Is there anywhere good to visit nearby the hotel/waterpark if we get bored?
Thanks so much in advance for answering.

Re: those that have been to coco key resort indoor waterpark, questions for you.....
I was there about a year ago. I don't think we went in the regular pool at all while we were there so I don't know if it gets crowded. The waterpark was pretty crowded, my son was a bit overwhelmed by it all, especially the splashing water. He was almost 2 1/2 at the time. From what I remember, the food is your standard amusement park junk food. There is a restaurant in the hotel that was okay. We couldn't find much to do in Waterbury- we ended up eating at Friendly's twice because the options were pretty limited. HTH.

There is a mall nearby called the Brass Mill Center. There is a Fridays, Bertucci's, Mcdonalds, Hometown Buffet, and I think an Olive Garden there, plus the food court. I would not necessarily venture into downtown Waterbury...it's not known for being the nicest area.
I've never been to the park but live in CT and know the area pretty well.

Re: those that have been to coco key resort indoor waterpark, questions for you.....
I actually live in Bristol, CT which is only 10 minutes from Coco Key. We actually went to Coco Key last June for my birthday
I remember the food being pretty decent. It's typical hotel restaurant food.
The Brass Mill Mall is about 10 minutes away and they have a bunch of restaurants. There is also a Costco and Kohls in the parking lot behind Coco Key. There is also a cute place up the road from Coco Key called Blackies and though I've never been, I've heard a lot of good things about it. I think it's pretty much a diner.
We went on a half day off sale so it was pretty busy when we were there. The lazy river was pretty packed but there were several lifeguards keeping watch. The children's area has that big bucket that dumps water and that can be pretty powerful!! There is another pool that has lilypads on it but it wasn't very large. There are (I believe) two waterslides that go out the side of the building and back in to the bottom and the lines for that were very long. There was also a half indoor/half outdoor hot tub that was pretty nice. There is a very very small outdoor area as well with a few chaise lounges.
I would say the Parrot's Perch is the best area for younger children. You may be able to take your child in to the lazy river. There were also a few holes in the ground that shot up water that I noticed a ton of kids playing with.
I believe that they also have a small arcade upstairs from the pool area but I didn't check it out.
Also, they provide towels when you arrive so you don't have to worry about that.
I don't think that there's anywhere that you could really go to that is close by. There is a Dairy Queen not too far away that has an indoor/outdoor seating area.
Hope this helps! Feel free to FM with any questions!

There are life jackets there for your use. We went in a Friday so it wasn't that crowded. The food was ok, not great, not bad. The rooms were pretty decent. The kids had a lot of fun in the arcade and it was reasonably priced. We did go to a fun children's museum in Bristol too.

Re: those that have been to coco key resort indoor waterpark, questions for you.....
We took the girls there last year for Kaydyn's birthday. We did not like the food at the hotel at all. We went to the restaurant at the hotel and they said we could have the buffet (which had about 4 items) or we could wait 45mins-1hr for our food. The kids were 1 and 3 and def would not have waited an hour for food. We ended up leaving and going to Burger King.
Ainsley was not a good age for it. She wasn't walking yet and she kept trying to crawl through the water. Kaydyn had a ball though. The only thing I did not like was that the part with the slides connected to the lazy river. I felt like I had to be right behind Kaydyn at all times in case she started going toward the lazy river area. The water was at least 3 feet deep there.
We didn't go to the pool at all so I can't tell you how crowded it was or anything.
It was cute though and Kaydyn really enjoyed herself.

It was cute though and Kaydyn really enjoyed herself. hmm wow. Guess what. There's no slides now connected to the entrance or exit or anywhere else to the lazy river anymore, however since the water was a teeny bit deeper my daughter wanted to play there. 2 feet was perfect for her as long as I watched her like a hawk. Well the lifeguard told us the whole area there is only for the lazy river. There's a sprayer thing there and everything. I thought that area might be too big to be empty. He said go upstairs to the pirate ship which was closed numerous times. I have a couple complaints. Kids enjoyed themselves and with the coupon it was CHEAP.
