Re: Those that have taken their child to a neurologist...
ahh, this is very familiar territory for me. I just had another visit last week. The first couple times we went, we also had to go for EEG, but now the appointments are more about seeing how he is doing developmentally wise. Like the peds office they do weight, height and head circumfrance. He will undress him stretch all limbs checking for any stiffness or preference with certain limbs etc.. etc.. Then he gets a bag of toys out and basically watches what he does with them to see if he is where he should be. However, most of the information will come from you and your observations because many times the child will do so much at home and once in Dr. office , just stare at doc. lol. Don't be nervous, I always am, but now I just try to remember I love my son no matter what, and these appointments are just to make sure we help him stay on track, and give him the earliest help possible if he needs it

Re: Those that have taken their child to a neurologist...
I am so sorry you are stressed about your ds. We took my ds to a neurologist for his entire first year as they were concerned with some delays resulting from his birth and NICU experience. Since Christopher is a bit older it might be different but basically they ask you lots of questions about their development, if they respond to their name, how their temperament is, when they hit theri milestones etc etc. And they check thier limbs, their eye contact, words spoken etc. They may have you go for an MRI (drew had one done before he was discharged from NICU) and will give you exercises to do at home or let you know if everything is on track. I know how stressful it can be but like lulu said, it is also comforting to know you are doing evertything in your power to make sure that any delayts or porblems are taken care of as early as you can. FM if you have any other questions.

It depends on why you are there. I've been to a neurologist and they didn't do the same stuff as was mentioned upthread.
