Those that stay home with kids...
What time does your DH come home from work? Mine comes home around 7:00 pm and it's such a long day! I am on maternity leave and go back in Sept and have 2 under 2 so it's def hard. I really feel like working is easier than staying at home so I give you moms a lot of credit. Also does a family member take one of the kids or watch them a couple of hrs so you can have a break?

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
DH works 9 am - 8 pm six days a week and he's got close to an hour commute. So he's never home until about 9 pm. I don't have any help. My older kids are in school until 2:30 every day, but I also have a 2 month old at home now too. From 3 pm until about 8:30 pm its like a 3-ring circus here, but I know it's short lived and I don't normally complain. Well, at least not out loud

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
DH gets home @ 6:30. My mom is retired and only a couple blocks away so I am lucky bc most days I can stop there or drop my baby off to run to the gym. I try to make plans on other days when friends are off from work or with other SAHM friends.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
DH leaves at 6:30am and walks in after 8pm almost every night except when i tell him he has to come home so i can go out. then he will be home between 6:30-7:30.
DS goes to school though 5 days a week from 8:15 - 3:30 and DD goes 2 days a week from 9:30-11:30 and on Fridays she goes to her Aunts house at about 10am and stays the night and she goes with my MIL whenever i need her to go (PTA for DSs school)
we do a lot of things with her friends too.. at least 2-3 days a week we have play dates, it gets harder as the kids get older with school and scheduling.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
my dh's job is a unique one where there are days where he could be gone for 24hrs at a time and some times he works his second job on the same day so for instance he'll work that job from 6am to 4pm and then come home shower and go to his first job for a 24hr shift so basically the kids and i don't see him for 36hrs+.....both our parents work full time and siblings work full time so i have zero help, it's literally all on me.....and to think I'm actually considering a third lollololol......no seriously though, its very hard on certain days and others i have fun with just me and my girls

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
DH ets on a train around 8am and gets home at 9pm most days. I have 2 kids that are in school all day and one that is home all day.
There are days that it is hard and I wish he didn't work such long hours. But most days it is ok. I don't have any family that is willing/able to help, but I'm used to that.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
My Dh has an.extremely flexible schedule bc he can technically finish his day at home. The hard part is even if he is home early, he's locked in the office until 6ish. There are days where he is not home until 9. He leaves anywhere from 6-7am.
I have no help, my family lives OOS. My MIL does not work but can't handle my boys for more then 3 hrs. I'm lucky if I get one day a week.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
Dh's hours are he leaves around 7 am and gets home around 7pm. Give or take. If i push or he's feeling like he's hasn't seen her he will leave at 6 and finish up at home but he's more productive at work. Most days though it's between 7/7:30.
It's all on me. I only have 1 but she's tough. I try to get out as much as I can, in the morning and after nap. I make play dates when I can and we do My Gym on Friday's.
All my family live oos.

DH leaves at 8 and gets home anywhere between 6-7. My mom lives with us and stays home to help me out on Mondays and Tuesdays, thankfully.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
When my dd was born for the first 17 months he worked 7:30 am to 9-10pm 5 days a week. He traveled 3 hours a day back and fourth to Manhattan. I'm not going to lie it was tough and I felt like a single mom most of the time. My dd only got to see DH in the morning while he was getting ready. Thank Godness now he has a job on L.I and is home by 7:00-7:30 which is such an improvement. He also doesn't have to leave for work until 8:30. I'm really grateful for his new job and more family time.
I really got into a routine with dd and we just did our own thing. She was use to having me all by myself. I got out a lot, staying home was really tough. I did mommy and me classes and did lots of browsing/shopping/parks and library
ETA- I didn't work for the first year of dd life and I saw my mom almost everyday but she didn't watch dd. We'd all go out places togeother, or if I had a drs appointment or somewhere I couldn't take dd she would watch her. After dd turned one I went back to work from home watching 8 other kids in my licensed daycare.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
I'm on mat leave too but only work PT. Every other week DH works 12-8. Now with a 3 yo and a NB its stinks! I told him when we plan days off it has to be on his 12-8 weeks not his 8-4s.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
My husband leaves the house at 8 am and comes home at about 6 pm, it is a long day! But I am busy out of the house most of the day. I have no family around, but my son goes to school from 8.30 to 3.30 and two mornings a week my two year old goes to daycare. So I do get a break.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, DH is gone from 6AM-8PM. It is a long and lonely day, but my inlaws are both retired and live 5 minutes away so they are over 1-2 days a week, sometimes I leave them with DS and go grocery shopping, or if my BFF is off of work I will meet her for a mani/pedi or for coffee/lunch. My mom also comes over on Thursday nights after work to play with DS and keep me company. We are doing Music Together on Tuesdays and we go to the library a lot. Now that it is spring we go to the park or for walks around the neighborhood. Mondays and Fridays he is only gone from 6-3. I definitely get bored and lonely sometimes, but luckily I like my inlaws and like that they want to come keep us company.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
I get no break from family bc I live about an hour away from them all. Paying a sitter just isn't an option financially for us right now so it's all me. DH has great hours though - leaves at 8:30am & is home by 5. He works 10 mins away.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
I'm home before 5:30 every day, and I get every other Friday off. We don't get any assistance from family with DC. I try to do as much as I can with DC in the evenings and weekends, and I try to give DW a break as much as possible.

Re: Those that stay home with kids...
Mine leaves between 730 and 9 depending on whether he is going to the office, court or deposition etc. He doesn't get home 99% of the time until around 830-930. It is very rare he is home by 745 or 8. He also often works part of one day on the weekends.

leaves a 3am home at 6pm. Mon-Sat. Somedays we are lucky enough for him to be home earlier though. We eat dinner when he gets home. And then he kids go to bed and we hang out for a little bit.

DH is gone from 6:30 am - 8 pm. It's a LONG day. Occassionally my inlaws or parents will watch him for an hour or two so I can go to appts without dragging DS along.
