Those that teach/have taught their DC sign language...

What would you recommend to teach next? My son just started doing his versions of drink, eat, milk and more. Thanks for your input!

at what age do they recommend you start teaching dc? this sounds like a great way to cut down on frustration that little ones have due to their inability to communicate... Chat Icon

They say to start introducing signs somewhere between 5 - 7 months. (We were a little late...for us it was about 9 Chat Icon) But it takes awhile for the babies to pick up on it...so the babies really won't be doing the signs back for several months.

We used the baby einstein video too. We had her start watching it at maybe 9 months, but she really didn't fully catch on until she was over 1.

I started doing it with DS around 5mths old but he didnt pick it up. When he started going to daycare around 1.5yrs old he really picked it up. He knows eat, more, drink, thank you. He is now almost 2.5 and only says more. He will actually speak and sign at the same time. Yes, I will def teach #2.
