Those that transitioned to a toddler bed...
Do you keep DC's door closed at night or did you put up a gate?

At first we kept it closed but now he likes it open a little bit. He never tries to go downstairs if he gets out of bed, he just comes straight across to our room. I'm such a light sleeper now that I'm a mom I hear him on the monitor getting out of the bed so I usually intercept him before he gets out of his room.

we keep the door open with no gates.
We are on the first floor and our rooms are next door to each other

Door open and no gate at his bedroom door -- there is a gate at the top of the stairs, but he can get to the bathroom and our bedroom freely.

When they nap it is closed since ti takes them some time to go down.
At night we close it and then when we go to bed we close all upstairs door and lock the gate and leave theirs cracked open and ours cracked open so they can come get us if they need to.
