Those that work from home - tax question
Do you write off a portion of your mortgage/rent for your home office? Are there specific rules? Do you know if it applies to renters? TIA

Re: Those that work from home - tax question
I thought the home office deduction is only for self-employed people. Maybe somebody can chime in on this?
I will probably be asking my CPA the same question when I see him next month.

From what i understand they are really tough on this one. The space has to be 100% work related and no way your living area. My accountant advised against it but if you find anything out i would love to know.

The space is a 400 square foot office that is 100% work related so that's not an issue. This isn't for me BTW.

I was just perusing turbo tax and it said something like to claim the deduction on personal taxes that you must be employed by someone else (which is the case in this instance).
Someone answered my question privately though (yes), so thanks all
