Those who belong to Meetup.com groups..

Have any of the groups ever requested to meet you in person before they "accept" you? I'm all for safety, but I feel like this an initiation

yes most of them do now. They are usually called peek-a-boo playdates.

I found it weird too but now I understand why....after meeting some of the people.

Yes. My group does. If you want, FM me the name of the group and I'll let you know if that's the one I belong to

I'm actually more comfortable that way. No one can lurk on the boards, see where we meet, etc.

yea most do... there are a lot of weirdo lurkers that are on meetup.

its not so much of an initiation, but you will also get to feel out the mommies and the kiddies before you join.

Thanks - just wondering if this was normal since I didn't need to meet 2 other groups before I joined them.

I actually just joined this meetup thing, and I am a little leary.... I just want to meet some other moms in the area, and I figured this was a good way.
