those who delivered at LIJ?

How many people were in your room after recovery. I am taking Lamze there and they said it can be with 4 people, 2 people or a provate room. How bad is the 4 person room? TIA

The day I went into labor and had my son there was a full moon and the maternity ward was PACKED! When I got there I immediately requested a private room but by the time I delivered my son there were none left Not even 2 person rooms So I got stuck in a 4person room. I was so mad but it really wasn't that bad at all. I was in the room alone for most of the night and in the early a.m. they brought another mom in, then the next day another mom and the day i was leaving they brought in the 4th mom. I had the bed by the window and felt like I had a good amount of space. And the cleaning staff kept the bathroom clean, there was never a mess in there, which I was soo grateful for.

With DS (in 2001) I started in a 4 person room. I had some complications from my c-section, and had requested a private room, so they eventually put me in. I thought the 4 person room was horrible, but I think I was just feeling horrible. With DD (in 2005) I requested a private, but they didn't have any privates or 2 person rooms, so I ended up in a FULL 4 person for the entire 5 day stay. I thought it would be horrible, but it ended up being OK. The bathroom in the 4 person was very clean. The showers for the private rooms are in the hall, and they were FILTHY. (There is a sink and toilet in the room.) I actually complained about that a number of times. The private room was great, but unless you have special circumstances, I don't think it's really necessary. A 2 person room would probably be ideal. Good luck!

I stayed in a private room, I never requested it, but it just happened that way, and I saw the 4 person rooms, and they seemed HUGE!!!

I was not on the regular maternity floor though, I was where all the NICU moms were, but I am assuming the rooms are the same on the 4th and the 5th floor.

I was on the NICU floor and I had one roommate - my cousin delivered there and had a 4 person room - it's not the most ideal but it's only for a few days, and you are probably too tired to care!

I delivered at LIJ in April 2005. I requested a private room but unfortunately they had none left. I got put on the third or fourth floor. It is not the floor with the big nursery. They have a small nursery on this floor. In any case, I got a 2 person room. My roommate had a C-section and was leaving the next day. So I had a private room for one night and didn't have to pay.

I delivered there,
I requested a private room but after delivery thet wheeled me into a room of for.. a man was sitting on my bed becuse he was w/ the people next to me.. I said Scott get me my own room please..
so
I had my own.. well worth the 300 a night.. the only bad part was I had a SLOB in the room next door.. We had to share a bathroom and she was a beast.. I know you just had a baby but so did I clean up afteryourself...
So in my opinion if you can afford it get your own room, my dh stayed with me bith nights aslo..
