those who delivered @ Good Sam-

Can I get some feedback please? I have never been there before.. and my new OB/GYN delivers there... nope, not pregnant YET.. just wanted some opinions.. good AND bad welcome. TIA

everyone was GREAT! I have no complaints. I had a ton of visitors , the room was packed and none of the nurses complained.

I was very emotional after the birth b/c there were some complications (with me) and the nurses were wonderful. The head nurse sat with me just so i could cry and talk.

I have to see, even the woman who came to give me a sponge bath was soooo nice and made me feel comfortable.

Overall - great experience.

Oh - and DH brought them in Dunkin Donuts and coffee one morning as a Thank You - they were very grateful for that.

oooh I just did some research on here and found out that if you're having a scheduled c-section (which I think I will since DD was scheduled c-section) that you can deliver at South Side with my OB/GYN..

Persoanlly, I wasn't a huge fan of Good Sam. It was overcrowded, and the rooms were small. Also, there was no consistency with visiting hours, and I did not sleep for the whole two days I was there. The nurses were really nice, and the nursery was great, but my stay there was uncomfortable and was not the best for recovery.

thank you for sharing your experience too! I have plenty of time to decide what I am doing since I am not even pregnant yet.. but it seems lots of people have the same complaints about Good Sam.

Rooms are small but for the few nights you are there it is doable. The staff was amazing. I had both DC there and would go back if/when #3 is to happen.

I had a great experience there, the nurses were extremely helpful and caring. The nursery was also great. Yes the rooms are a little tight but I didn't really care since I was recovering from a csection and all I wanted to do was lay in bed anyways. If I could complain about anything it would be that they are very laid back about visiting hours. This can be a good thing but can also be somewhat of an annoyance when otehr patients are having visitors late at night way past visiting hours. That's the one thing that bothered me, but I will definitely be delivering there again. My OB prefers delivering there over Southside because he says the nursing staff at Good Sam in his opinion is better.

I had an awesome experience at Good Sam. My labor nurse hooked me up with a private room, and I didn't have any issues at all with visiting hours. The best part of my stay was definitely the nurses. They were so terrific during my labor and also supported my breastfeeding with help.

I work at Good Sam...not in that unit though...people tell me that Southside has a much better post-partem unit then Good Sam.

The rooms are definitely too small...I was lucky enough though to get a private room (still small though). They are VERY laid back with the visiting hours...which makes for too much noise. It was impossible to sleep. The nurses were good....I would've liked a little more help on the breastfeeding...I was having latching on issues...and it was like pulling teeth to get help. Maybe it's because it was the weekend...but there wasn't a lactation specialist anywhere to be found.

Overall, it was OK...had I not had the private room...I probably wouldn't have been happy. I was in a double room the first 10 hours...and she had SO many visitors...I was trying to breastfeed... and there was SO much noise. Then when I had to use the bathroom... it was like having an audience
