Those who did a cake smash for DC 1st birthday ...
If you did a cakse smash for DC 1st birthday was it their first exprience with cake at the photoshoot?
I want to have DD 1st birthday shoot as close to her bday as possible sine i dont plan on using them for any invites.
I am thinking about doing it the day after her actual birthday if i can get the date but i dont know if the cake smash pcitures will be as good since she would have had cake already.

Re: Those who did a cake smash for DC 1st birthday ...
I believe ds had already had cake before his cake smash but honestly even if he didn't I don't think it would have mattered. The mere fact that u put a big cake in front of a baby is enough to peak their curiousity. DS was a bit confused when I put the cake in front of him like "really I can't touch it?" Once he realized the cake was ALL his he dug in and made a huge mess.....which made for some great pics! (I believe the cake smash pics are in my album)

DS had cake way before his cake smash shoot - he had no problem going to town on that cake.
In fact, he cried and practically threw a hissy fit when we pulled it away.

DS had muffins before, so I made the cake fro ma muffin recipe. I frosted it with yogurt :) and did some gel coloring for decoration.
I didn't really care the cake wasn't fancy, it was messy and fun.

we had given DS cake before at bday parties. We used the pics for his thank you actually.
I made the cake but I wish I would have used whipped frosting instead of store-brought. It was a nightmare cleaning him! lol

Re: Those who did a cake smash for DC 1st birthday ...
DC's cake smash was done about 3 weeks before their first birthday and yes, it was their first experience with cake. One DS completely FREAKED OUT. Didn't want to have anything to do with it, screamed and ran. I got ONE decent picture. I mean it's funny looking back on it, now that he would do anything for a bite of cake LOL, but I wish I had tried something at least cake-like before the shoot.
