Those who had their babies at Northshore manhasset???
We went for a hospital tour last night and the woman who was giving the tour mentioned that they collect cord blood and bank it as well free of charge......Did anyone hear about this...i'm going to call and inquire....

Yes I did it. The woman who coordinates the program there was also my lamaze instructor and she's wonderful.
I'm sorry -- I should add that I'm not sure if they bank if for you to use, or they bank it after you 'donate' it. I'll have to check my paperwork at home.

You donate it to a bank. I think it's part of NY Blood Services. You can not get your child's blood back.

You can get child's blood back if your baby needs it and it hasn't been used yet. But it is a donation that you're making. And they only do it on certain days out of the week.
If you really want the blood banked then don't count on this service.
