Those who had your flat panel TV's mounted
Those who had your flat panel TV's mounted...
How big of a hole did they have to make in your sheetrock to run the electric / cable?
My electrician just said something about needing to hire someone to patch the sheetrock afterward?
How bad is it?

my DH & BIL did ours in our bedroom. They did not make a big hole at all. Just enough to fit the electrical cord through. Ours goes into a closet but you could never tell there is a hole. I have no idea what your electrician is talking about

Just a small hole and the guy that installed it just put one of those cable face plats over it, that was all. Sounds suspicious that they would need the sheetrock patched.

We are doing that, and we put in the electrical box before putting up the sheetrock, but the hole we cut into it was only the size of the box. I don't see why you would need to get it patched, unless he has to cut more rock to run the wires.

Re: Those who had your flat panel TV's mounted
If this helps any, this is the wall we will be putting the tv on, you can see its just a little hole in the middle of the wall for the outlet. The outlet didnt exist before though, and we did have to run wire to get it there. It was easy because we had no walls, but maybe your electrician has a situation where he has to cut some holes to find and run the wire.

Ours has any wires tucked right behind the tv so all you see is the tv and no wires at all. So I am not sure what he is taking about.

Re: Those who had your flat panel TV's mounted
The hole should be no biller than 3 inches round. I have installed both of mine in the den and bedroom, with no problem. If the person doing the install knows what he is doing the hold will line up with the hole in the mounting bracket. All of the wires will run through the bracket and be neatly tucked away out of view. If you look at the hole in my closet, where the wires come through the wall, you see the size whole which is on both sides.
