Those who have a full time sitter...
For all of you mommies who drop your kids off with a babysitter, do you allow them to take your child out during the day – I mean driving them, like doing errands and things like that? I am not too comfortable with that at all..if it was someone I knew, I think I would feel differently but at this point I do not have anyone (family or friends) who will be able to watch my baby when I go back to work, so whoever I go with with be basically a stranger. I am looking into both babysitters and day care. I like the personalization of a babysitter but also the social interaction and routine of a day care (plus the fact that I know he will be THERE all day and not out on the road)…I may sound overprotective but that’s because I lost a family member in a car accident years ago and it still affects me to this day.
So do you feel comfortable if you have a sitter, do they take them out in their car?

If you use a licensed, in home babysitter, I can't imagine that they'd go many places with the amount of kids that they have.
My parents sent us to a babysitter who drove us though.

Re: Those who have a full time sitter...
my sitter rarely takes them out....in the rare occasion where she does, she gets my approval first and it is usually only when she has mikayla and her kids (she cannot go out with all the kids as it would be too much for her - she watched my BF's 2 kids too)
example, the other week, my bf picked up her kids early and the sitter took miki and her kids to the supermarket
I was fine with that

Sorry, to clarify, this would be someone who is a SAHM and only has her own child (plus mine) to watch. A referral through someone. Not licensed...

Jen - I would not be comfortable with that at all! I worry enough as it is with Samantha in daycare, that would just add to my worry and anxiety.

If you are uncomfortable, I wouldn't do it then. I don't believe that just b/c she watches your DC means she has to stay home all day, KWIM?
This is just me, and I know a lot of people don't agree with me, but if I trust someone to watch your child, then I would trust them to drive them. Not a flame at all, and its just my opinion

I know what you mean though, which is why I am leaning more towards a day care...
