Those who have used Bark Busters
Can you tell me, do they use the shock/impulse/vibration collars to train dogs? I met w/ muttmanners today and that is what they use. I have always been dead set against it. I'm really not sure about it and am looking into options. What do you think?

Re: Those who have used Bark Busters
I contacted muttmanners, but they never got back to me.
I contacted Bark Busters and Jason Molfetto contacted me later in the day. He said he couldn't help until our puppy was around 4-5 months old. Non-physical: The Bark Busters method does not include the use of big sticks, rolled newspapers or threats of any kind.
We do not use shock collars, spray collars or pronged collars.
We teach you to use just your VOICE to control your dog . . . both on and off leash, at your home, at the park . . . anywhere.

Thank you so much for the post. It's funny because I had the opposite. Bark Busters never got back to me. Maybe I'll try again.

I went to the Bark Busters web site and clicked here: Click me! and within a day, I had a call from the LI representative who went over the pricing and the schedule and what they do.

Re: Those who have used Bark Busters
Bark Busters uses these little green pouches that have a metal chain inside of it...you throw the pouch on the floor, and the sound shocks the dog and stops the dog in his tracks and redirects him to listen to you, the alpha dog. In no way are you hurting the dog, because you are throwing the pouch on the floor, not at the dog.
They also teach you this deep sounding grunt, which you do in lieu of throwing those pouch things all the time.
It's all about having your dogs see you as the alpha dog.
I think they do something else with collars, to teach a dog how to walk on a leash, but you don't HAVE to do anything like that...they work with you and if you don't want to mess around with any collars, you don't have to. (My DH didn't like their collars, because they are around the neck, and not a harness).
Good luck.

Re: Those who have used Bark Busters
We use bark busters. No collars are involved. Everyone sees they see a difference in Rudy. It is work and we still need to work with him.
We needed to work on leash training and we never used any special collars.

We used Bark Buster and never had special collars. They give you all the tools you need to train your dog but you are the one who has to keep it up (as is the case with any training!). Good luck

I guess it depends on the particular Bark Buster representative, because the guy who came to our home had some kind of collar that was metal, and if the dog tugged on his lead, you'd tug back a bit, and it would make a noise or something.
But my DH didn't like having any type of collar around the neck, he prefers the harness around the dog's chest.

We also use a harness.
But when we were doing the training with Rudy we were only use the collar and leash. I prefer the harness though.
