Those who stored cord blood...
Did your OB charge a crazy fee for the procedure of removing cord blood? This is in addition to VIACORD's charges. I just got a $500 bill ... and was never told about the charge beforehand, and of course, it's not covered by insurance. Just curious if anyone had similar experiences...

I think we were charged $150 but CBR refunded us $125, so it only cost us $25 out of pocket. That $25 was reimbursed by DH's insurance.

Isn't that crazy?! I would have done it either way, I just feel like I should have been told when I inquired during my visits. I'll know for next time!

We didnt get charged but I would be a little annoyed if nobody told me beforehand I would have done it anyway but I would like to know ahead of time

I paid nothing out of pocket.
But I did see on the insurance statement that my DR charged $150..which is funny b/c he did nothing at all for it, it was all the nurse!
I know my friend had to pay her dr directly and I think it was $250.

I think that stinks that you weren't informed about the charge by your OB's office prior to delivery.  I would definitely argue that and try to negotiate.
My OB charges $200 I believe, but she waived the fee w/ both of my boys.
