Those who take Citracal Prenatal, I have a questions?
Does your insurance cover it?
Does it really keep the flow going? Meaning, the stool softener really work?
Side effects if any?
I take CVS prenatals, and did the same with DD, this pregnancy constipation is such a problem and I aggravated my fissures from the birth of DD.
I am at my wits end, between the pain and m/s...
TIA!

Why don't you take Colace if you are having this issue. It is very safe both during pregnancy and while nursing. I think it is the only one "allowed", acutally.

Yes, my insurance covered it.
I still do have some constipation though (less now in the 2nd trimester).
ETA: no real side effects. I take it right before bed so I don't feel sick or anything.

i actually took Citracal and one point and they took me off of it b/c my M/S was bad - they put me on something that was easier on the stomach.

I am on colace already, 100mg 2x a day. My dr mentioned the citracal, that it could be easier on me, I wanted to get some side effect info, since I know the ones i take now my body is fine with
I swear if i know what i know now about what happens after the birth, i would have done things wayyyy differently!

Re: Those who take Citracal Prenatal, I have a questions?
My insurance covers it. It's something like $12 a box. In the first trimester I had some issues, but since my 2nd started I've been regular with them. They haven't made me feel sick either. In my first when I was constipated, I started using Benefiber because it dissolves in foods and liquids and is tasteless and it worked really well.

I am on this (the one with the added DHA) and I suffer from constipation issues but this has made me more regular (I now go once a day instead of every other or 2) and my stools are softer---yes, sorry-way TMI but it's the truth.

I use this too, i love it, it's wonderful. I am a fiber freak, with fissures, I am not sure if anyone knows what they are, but it's not about, not being able to go, but when you do go if it's hard, seriously, it hurts more than childbirth to me, it's like pooping razor blades. Since i am pg again, and these are reoccuring, i can't take meds or have surgery, so natural healing is the only way to go and for me that means high fiber, stool softners and lots of water.
what makes this so tricky is that with my m/s the only things that make me feel better, like carbs, are the food I HAVE to stay away from since they can produce hardening stools.
Sorry for the TMI, but this is my awful issue, i wouldn't wish this on anyone~

My insurance did not cover it. But it is $28.50 a box, so it isn't horrible.
I found I was was constipatied at the beginning and now it has sort of sometimes goes away. But I have a problem with this normally.

Re: Those who take Citracal Prenatal, I have a questions?
I had to take Colace in addition to my Citrical. My ins did cover some of it. I learned in my 8th month that it I went generic that it was $5 instead of $20
