Those who went down to three bottles. Afternoon Snack question
So Im trying to wean down to three bottles a day.. plus transitioning to milk.(we do 4oz of form and 3 oz of milk..working fine).
I eliminated his 3:00 bottle yestreday.. gave him yogurt and cherrios as a snack.(hasn't been finishing his yogurt) At daycare they give him fruit cups as a snack.
But by 4:00 he was screaming for his bottle so I gave in and gave it to him. (tried it in a cup but wouldn't have it)The day before I had to feed him at 4:30??
what snacks does your LO get if you elimintaed that afternoon bottle to fill them until dinner. Or how do you work that.
Again.. daycare they give him his snack at around 3:00. thanks

Re: Those who went down to three bottles. Afternoon Snack question
We weaned DD down to 3 bottles a few weeks ago. It's funny because when she was getting the 3 bottles, she only had her 3 meals in between, no snacks and was fine. We now switched one of those bottles (her 3 pm one) to a sippy cup and as soon as she sucks down the milk, she screams like she hasn't eaten in days (never happened when she got it in a bottle though ). So now (if she's screaming), I will usually give her a little fruit or some yogurt and she's usually ok with that.

Re: Those who went down to three bottles. Afternoon Snack question
well once he is on straight milk they usually want them down to about 18 oz per day. Right now John is getting 28 oz of formula give or take.. (sometimes he will leave an oz or two in the afternoon bottle).
7 oz bottle at 6:30 or 7:00 when he wakes.
Breakfast at daycare @ 8:30
7 oz bottle around 9:30 or 10:00
Lunch around 11:00 or 11:30
Nap.
Snack around 3:00
7 oz bottle after snack. (they say he sometimes asks for it.. "baba?"but has been leaving about 2 oz.
Dinner around 5:00 (he's always hungry)
7oz bottle @ 6:30-7:00
Bed by 8:00

Yeah I thoguht that too but never said anything to them..
So should I have daycare try to eliminate that mid morning bottle instead of the afternoon?

Yes. She now gets bottles at 7:30am, 3pm and 7:30pm - there used to be an 11:00 am bottle.
eta: her schedule kind of looks like this now:
7:30 - 6 oz bottle 8:30/9:00 - breakfast 12:00/12:30 - lunch 3:00 - 6 oz bottle/sippy 6:00 - dinner 7:30 - 7 oz bottle
She will get water throughout the day - usually with lunch and dinner. She doesn't normally have snacks but if she does, she has fruit or maybe yogurt.

This is what I was gonna say....that first and second bottle are too close together. What if you put 8 oz instead of 7. DS dropped to 3 bottles at 6 months...his schedule is this...
DS wakes up at 7am doesnt cry for a bottle until 8am...soo...
8am---8oz bottle 10am-yogurt 1pm-8oz bottle 3pm-fruit with cereal 6pm- veggie with cereal 8pm 8oz bottle with 3 tbls of oatmeal
When we eat dinner we give him little snacks eat those ones that melt in your mouth and a sippy cup of some water.
DS is 7 months

why? did the dr. tell you to? I am curious b/c I haven't reduced his milk intake.
I am just starting the transition and he gets milk 3 times a day (plus two nursing sessions am and pm) but he drinks only water besides the milk....I imagine he gets thirsty you know...I would just give him the milk. I suck.

Re: Those who went down to three bottles. Afternoon Snack question
I agree with the above regarding the 2nd bottle.
This is my dd's schedule(haven't switched her to sippy's yet). -8oz bottle when arrive at daycare around 8-8:30 -breakfast is at a little before 9 - lunch is at around 11:30
nap from around 12-2
-8oz bottle at around 3 and snack
-dinner at home around 6-7 -8 oz bottle at around 8
Does he get any water? DD gets water (in straw sippy) at dinner and usually 2 times at daycare.

eta: if you want to reduce total ounces, why not just put LESS in each serving rather than take one full serving away???

We dropped to 3 bottles when DS was 8 months old. His schedule has been:
7:30am - breakfast 8am - 8oz bottle
nap - snack
11:30pm - lunch 12pm - 8oz bottle
nap - snack
4:30pm - dinner
6:30pm - bath, 8oz bottle, bed
His snacks are: cut up fruit cheerios yogurt melts veggie sticks cheese bread and butter EB sunny days bars
The yogurt might fill him up around 3pm if you want to try that.
