Those With Barbie Jeeps, Corvettes, Escalades, and the like...

How old was your child when they started using the car?
I was thinking of getting it for Alex for her b-day/Christmas (they fall very close together) when she turns 2, and I figured she won't be able to really use it until the Spring anyway.
Will she be too young?
Should I wait until her 3rd b-day?

DD got hers at 2, however didn't really get good at it until after 3. I personally feel from experience after 3 is best for the jeep/car.
ETS: It's more work on the parents steering and keeping up until they can do it on their own.

Hayley just got a jeep for her 2nd birthday but we didn't put it together yet. She has been using the small trike I got her in the Spring. She doesn't really steer it but she likes it.

Now my friend's son just turned 2 and he has a Harley (with 2 wheels in the back, 1 in front). WOW, he drives it so good!!! He presses that pedal and takes off on the highest speed it goes. He steers good too.

Every child is different...I say get it and she will use it in the spring Chat Icon

I agree, my parents got 3 jeep trucks for the grandkids last christmas and when Julia went to use hers she couldn't really steer and push the peddle at the bottom at the same time, I had to help her. I would wait till shes 3 or 4, I'm sure by next year Julia will be riding all around in it.

My parents got Jared a quad like the barbie one above at a year old and he kinda got it. For Christmas last year, they got him the Escalade, when it was time for him to use it in the spring/summer he was two and was able to figure it out. He's a tall boy though and is able to reach the pedals and steer at the same time.

This is what we were thinking. Maybe for her 3rd or 4th birthday.

I thought this was TOTALLY cute! I saw it online last night but some of the reviews said that it was sluggish for kids that were close to 30 lbs (Alex is around 28), I'm so bummed, I really like it!

Don't be bummed....I ride the thing and it's sluggish. My 30 pound kid rides that quad just fine. Chat Icon

We got the Mustang for his 1st bday but just took it out of the box recently (it was stored until we got a house) and he LOVES IT!! (he's 2). I think at 1 he was way too young to get it but at 2 he's a pro. We do have to put a towel behind him to reach the pedal but he gets around great (it's not slow at all for him).
