Those with finished basements and forced air heating/cooling
We are in the process of finishing our basement. The dilemma we have is hot to heat and cool it. Here are our options: 1. Just add registers and pull it from the main level zone (we have 2 zones now). DH is concerned that the main floor won't e as balanced as it is now.
2. Add a mini split system, now we have that hanging on the wall which isn't too pretty to loom at.
3. Add a third zone. This would be the most efficient but DH thinks it will take more of the ceiling space away and we have 8ft. Ceilings so he didnt want to take more space away. Right now how the soffit would run t wouldn't look terrible.
We had the company that installed the main units come out but he didn't recommend one over the other. 2 friends told him to go with option one and that is my feeling too.

We had to add additional zone because the balance of temperature was always off. The third floor was never warm in the winter or cool in the summer. Add another zone or put the unit in. I'm not a havoc professional but I had the same problem too. Good luck.
