Those With Infants In Daycare
Did you make something up with your DC's sleeping, eating patterns, diapering, what you do at home, what you don't do at home, etc to give to the teacher in the room?
Emma will be starting in 2 weeks (sniff sniff!) and I've typed up a list of things, and included a few things I prefer them not to do (like use the swing..since her head is flat) but I don't want to sound bossy or like I'm telling them how to do their job KWIM?

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
My son starts in 2 weeks as well, and my day care center actually gave me a questionnaire to fill out about all the things you mentioned. I think it's a good idea as long as you ask your center if it is OK to give it to the teacher (so you don't waste your time).

They probably gave me a form, but honestly I filled out those forms months ago when she was itty bitty and don't remember and quite a bit has changed between now and then. I really hope they don't have a problem with it since I would prefer consistency between home and daycare. Now I'm a little worried about that. Ugh.

My daycare also asked me to fill out a form with Jackson's schedule, likes, dislikes, etc.

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
My day care asked for our day's schedule and they followed it exactly the first couple of days. She has only gone twice so far- next week, full time

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
I always tell parents to write down exactly what they do at home, so the teachers can follow through at daycare-
As your child changes, so does their schedule- therefore an updated "schedule" is always welcome!!!
Rj is almost 2 and I still give a list of "rules" to whoever takes care of him (-grandparents as well as teachers)

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
I gave a schedule to the daycare. When Lucas was home he was starting to get into a schedule of naps at 9am, 12-1pm, and 3pm. Since starting daycare his schedule has been close but not exact...which is to be expected since so many new things are surrounding him. We've always fed on demand which he seems to require every 3 hours or so. He has kept that up but seems to eat less in daycare than at home.
Our daycare has rules about how often they change children...every two hours they check in addition to any clearly necessary ones.
He goes in the swing but they also have rules on how long he is allowed to stay in..they have had to wake him at times to take him out. Definitely tell them no for your child...they will respect that.
One piece of advice...not sure how old your child is but Lucas is 3 months and I have asked all the people there to please not tell me (or DH) or make any notations of teething, speaking, crawling...any milestones they see. I want the first time I see it to feel like the very first time. I will tell them when I see it and we can discuss it at that point...not before. Right now he has two teeth coming in and I have asked that they not tell me when they see the full tooth until I mention it.

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
They gave me a form to fill out. The first I day I took him in, I sat down with the head of the infant room and she went over the list with me asking more specific questions. While they have me fill out a new form every couple weeks, we actually talk abnout everything everyday, so I'm always up on what's happening there, telling him what he's doing at home, and what I'd like them to do. Best thing to do is have constant communication. My DH talks to the morning crew when he drops off and I talk to the afternoon crew when I pick up to make sure we all stay on the same page.

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
Just curious about some of the questions on the sheets. I am writing dd's schedule for the woman who will be watching her but I wonder what other information I should write down without seeming too overbearing!

Re: Those With Infants In Daycare
How much he eats and how often. How does he take a bottle? Cold/Warm/Room temp? How often do you burp? Is there a nap schedule? How/Where does he like to sleep? Likes/Dislikes? Preferred toys? How often would you like us to change diapers, aside from poopy diapers? When do you want us to use wipes/diaper cream? How do you soothe him?
