Those with the Nautilus - Im going to rip my hair out!
So I bought the Nautilus this weekend, which I LOVE once DS is sitting IN it.
However getting him in it is a PITA!
The lower buckle always ends up under him, and I have to go digging around for it. I cant just flop it forward though bc it doesnt stay there and just flips back.
Also, is it necessary that the padding on the lower buckle strap be there, or can I take it off, bc it gets in the way every time I try to click the latches in.
Also, the seat pad, can that come out too? Bc after DS sits down, the seat pad slides down and I have to yank it back up so the slits for the buckles line up with the slits where the straps come through the back.
Am I just doing it wrong?

I think both the seat pad and padding on the lower strap are for infants. I took them both out right away.
As for the annoying lower buckle, once DS is in the seat, we say "hiney up" and he pushes up so I can grab the buckle Either that, or he just grabs it himself. It IS annoying.
But I love the seat

I think Jenn is right. I think we took those out right off the bat.

We used to have the Graco Comfortsport and you were just able to flip it forward and it would stay like that, this one...no such luck.

I am undecided between the Nautilus and the Britax Frontier. Do you find the arm rests on the side of the Nautilus annoying? Is it easy for DS to climb in on his own?

I can see how it can be annoying, definitely. DS doesnt seem to mind climbing over it though.
However, if DH is driving and the front seat is all the way back, since the arms dont go up, there is very little room for DS to be able to get out of the car. He has to squeeze between the back of the front seat and his arm rest.
It is also a downside when DS falls asleep in his carseat, its hard to just lift him out of it without waking him.
