Thought I would let you all know how it went
We had my daughters party today. My Mom was not there and it felt really weird not to have her there. For me this was the first time that she had ever missed an event in my life  Though my idiot father did say how this was the best event of mine he had ever been to- meaning that since my mother wasn't there he enjoyed himself more  If I had a couple of glasses of wine in me I would have went off but I was too done at that point to care.
My daughter FREAKED having everyone in the house. She would ONLY come to me and only me. SHe wanted not part of anyone including my husband. She has started her stranger anxiety I guess and right now she will only go to me, my husband or my Mom (which is another reason it made it worse not having her there ) My back is done to say the least. I felt like I barely got to see anyone because she was being so needy. I also have to admit I wasn't in the best of spirits. I was trying to be but we were up very late clearing the basement due to the weather so we woulld have more than enough room for everyone and I was thinking about my Uncle a lot today and that he never got to meet my daughter- long story. I was just really sad about that.
Anyways, she got a ton of gifts. Everyone was VERY generous. I think people really liked the favors I gave out, so if anyone is looking Diane is awesome. The food was really really amazing- I have to say.
But the best part of the whole day- was after everyone but my father left my daughter took her first steps and I was home to see them   (one of my biggest fears as a working Mom since I had seen all her other milestones.) My father was holding her or tormenting her whichever you prefer and he put her down standing and she saw me and started "running" to me. It was so great though I wanted to kill him for tormenting her. But I wanted to cry I was so proud of her. 
Tomorrow we have the wake. I am leaving her with my SIL I just hope she doesn't freak too badly.

I'm sorry your mom wasen't there to share her special day and that your sad about your uncle! But yeh!! for her walking and saving it for mommy!

Jamie, the party was awesome and the favors were amazing. I'm so sorry we couldn't stay longer but it was soo much fun to see so many "familiar" faces I still wish I could have snuck your friend's son home in my pocketbook 
She looked stunning!

I am glad everything went well with the party and sorry for your loss.
Oh I know how your back is feeling my daughter was in that mood this entire weekend she wasn't feeling that great and she only wanted me and I couldn't even sit down and hold her I need a massage and a hot bath.
You must of been in your glory that you got to see her first steps I know I was glad my DD did everything for the first time when I was home
