Thoughts on spacing between kids.
What in your opinion is the BEST spacing between kids, I mean for Mommy too. I have a 6yo, 2 1/2 yo, and 4 month old, we are trying to decide and plan when we should start trying for the next one. Is 2years apart better than 3, and do you think 4 years apart is too far apart? Ok, now what about 18 months apart? I kind of want to have them very close together so I can put away maternity clothes and nursing bras for good! TIA

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
I plan on trying for # 2 as soon as Ryan turns 2..... so they'll be just about 3 yrs apart....
I want them to be close in age but I know my body just isnt ready to do all that again anytime soon....Even 2 yrs...seems to soon right now lol...
DH wants them all close in age ( we want to have between 3-4 children) but as of now, thats just not happening so soon...However I can totally see when Im about to try for my last one, not minding as much....for reasons like you said...to put everything away for good..

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
Most of my friends have spaced their children so that they are 2-3 years apart. I am thinking our plan will be the same. I know I don't think I could imagine being pregnant again anytime in 2006. We plan to start trying again in early 2007 after we take a Mommy and Daddy trip.

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
I think 2 or 3 years apart is good. DH wanted to try for #2 when Andrew was 2, I wanted to have the kids 2 years apart. I won out, and baby #2 is due right around Andrew's 2nd birthday. I am not sure if we sill top after 2, but if we try for more, they will hopefully all be 2 years apart.
I myself am one of 6 kids. My 2 sisters are 8 and 12 years younger than me, but we get along great! My brothers are all close in age to me, and I have a brother who is 10 months older than me, and we don't get along too great! Go figure!

We plan on getting pregnant with #3 when Jeremy is about 20 months old so when he/she is born Jeremy will be 2 1/2 just like Emma was. It seems like a perfect age for me

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
Jordan and Mallory are about 3 yrs apart, definitely good spacing, we were originally going to start trying for #3 when Mallory turned a year, but now I think we are done... we have the one to one thing working for us, two is a handful and we don't want to make ourselves crazy

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
We had planned on starting to try to get pregnant with #2 when Sarah was 1, so that they'd be about 2 years apart. But we got pregnant much sooner than that and they will be 16 months apart. With #3 we'd like 2 year age difference.

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
I have been on bedrest since 20 weeks because I have had a cerclage placed in my cervix, and it has been very difficult, so I don't know what to do because I will have to go through this again when I get preggo... It might have to be a good 3-5 years maybe a little longer

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
Patrick & the girls are 4 years apart. I wanted my time with Patrick. IMO the space is perfect. Patrick is some what independent but, not to old not to still be my baby! He just adores his sisters & understands a little more when I have to take care of his sisters. Where as if he were 2 he wouldn't understand it as much.

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
I plan on trying for #2 when Katherine is about 1 year old. I want 3 children and I would rather not be too much older. Plus, for me personally, I would rather have them in diapers at the same time (crazy I know) so I get it over with in a shorter period of time. My mom did it that way too.

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
I really don't think that there's any right or wrong age spacing and I think it depends on the child and parents. Mine are 18 months apart and it's not hard having them both in diapers. Diapers are the least of my concerns. I think that the terrible two's usually kick in full time by this age or soon and that can be difficult because they try to communicate but can't always. Also, my daughter is in a really big helping stage right now and has to do everything herself. I think like everything, you just adjust. Every age is going to bring a different challenge, no matter what. I say have one when you'd like one and you and the children will adjust, no matter the age. That's just IMHO.
I am kind of excited about possibly being done with the whole maternity clothes thing though.

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
thanks everyone for your input, i think we'll just leave it in God's hands, I didn't start the mini-pill because I feel like I will only be on it very shrt term. One of my best friends has kids 13 montrhs apart, and her last one was her 4th! She always reminds me that it works out in the end( although she cried for an entire week when her baby was 3 months old and she found out she was preggo again) and she is doing really well managing all of them, I think I'm cut out for this job since I thrive on chaos (crazy right?!), so I'll jut let whatever happens, happen!

Re: Thoughts on spacing between kids.
We were thinking of waiting 4-5 years because this wasn't planned and we want to be more financially secure and such when we have #2 -- but honestly now I am thinking I want it to be MUCH less time. Having her just makes me want more and more and more!
Okay, and we only planned on having 2 kids total -- I think I'm going to want more!
